Realistic Outlook
UNC = Mix of surprise losses and surprise wins to come but still top 4 or 5 in ACC this year. Probably get into the NCAA tournament in the 9 seed range. Sweet 16 if they get a favorable draw.
NC State = Will continue to struggle against high caliber teams, mostly due to lack of depth. First 5/6 in the lineup can play with anybody. A key injury could be devastating. Top 3 or 2 in ACC this year. NCAA seed in 5 range. Sweet 16.
Duke = Unfortunately we're looking at another ACC title and final four run.
Side note: Can't wait to see the Colorado Buffaloes ranked ahead of UNC and State in the next poll. Big turn-around since my day when you could sit front row for $2 just by getting there 20 minutes early. And this was only 12 years ago, not the days when a movie cost a nickel.

Well said..but not very realistic to seed teams in the tourney after only 6 games. After December, we'll check to see how realistic those statements really are.

I was incredibly impressed with IU last night, and to a slightly lesser degree, UM. If there is a better team in the country than Indiana right now, I'd love to watch them play.
As for the locals, State and UNC seem to have chemistry issues to work out, but they have time to do so. I feel better about State after last night, and no different about Carolina. They both need to work harder on defense.

UNC will never make a 3 or 4 seed unless Roy happens to find the right combo. Right now, I'm not sure we have the right combo. Indy made them look silly last night.

In fairness to UNC, I suspect Indiana will make a LOT of teams look silly, if they play with that intensity every night.

I see this happening but don't be suprised if UNC or State take a leap forward once they figure things out. Carolina has the talent to be really good by the end of the season.

Agree -- after last night's spanking, that Georgetown game appears to be a blip.
That said, UNC has a lot of work to do.

I was just using a generic measuring stick we can all relate to when projecting how these teams may end up doing this season. But yes, it is very early. But as a football fan of Colorado (worst team in America), UNC (post season ban), and the Philly Eagles, I am desperate to focus solely on basketball.

Probably 3 or 4 in the NIT....i can see that.
