"graduates" ? What part of "before and after attending the university" is so confusing ?

I know it hurts. Have some self respect, and take the 1st step by quitting the denial.

I'm not mad. Just tired of trolls such as yourself making the same old threads over and over again. You in no way showed any evidence of Roy cheating. You showed a 6 year old piece talking about Kansas. Roy knew some graduates received a gift and decided not say anything. Maybe because he isn't a rat and doesn't want to get people in trouble over stupid rules. Do you call the police every time you see someone driving 75 in a 60? I don't even though it is a rule.

"The rules are the rules." Cory and K beg to disagree.

The rules are the rules. It does not matter what you "consider". Take it up with the NCAA. LOIC ?
BTW, the "world" doesn't end nor makes me cry. However, you do sound mad because ol'roy cheated, & that busted your "evidence" bubble. How about the guy(guidance counselor for "student athaleets" ) ol'roy brought with him from Kansas to ewenc that has disappeared ?
    Oh, I forgot...that's "so petty".

Hmm... right... I suppose Matt Doherty was the "flagship's" first choice when Bill Gutheridge retired. I seem to recall Larry Brown, George Karl, and Roy Williams not having much interest in the position at the time. A likely reason for Roy's departure after Doherty's well-deserved dismissal can be seen in the post above. Roy's sentiments toward the "flagship" can be seen in the video clip below.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvW0SGEqC5k

Dean Smith was quite possibly the best collegiate basketball coach of all-time, and a total class act; I have nothing but respect for the man, and most non-morons do as well. Also, like most people with any sense, I am a big fan of Michael Jordan (at least as a professional basketball player with the Bulls). Those two individuals made such enormous impacts and contributions on the sport that the "aftershocks" of their effects led to UNC becoming a national "brand name" that attracted top-notch recruits for years afterwards and resulted in two more national championships after Smith's departure. Roy Williams had almost jack sh!t to do with those two victories. The 2005 team just had a good draw, and the 2009 team was loaded with talent.

However, these days, the incredible legacies of Dean Smith and Michael Jordan are unfortunately fading into obscurity, and the "flagship" will suffer as a result. Look at it objectively: do kids today grow up idolizing Tyler Hansbrough, Danny Green, and Raymond Felton? No. UNC's star is fading, and when Roy retires (or is "asked to resign"), the vacancy may not even be among the top 10-15 most desirable head coaching jobs in college basketball.

OOOOOHHHHH NOOOO'SSS people received some gifts, the world will end and you will cry. Seriously some rules are so petty. To me cheating in basketball means taking steroids, or paying off refs. I could care less who received a gift. Did Roy give away gifts, or was it the athletic department and Roy simply knew of it? Either way I don't consider gifts cheating.

A large # of ol'roy's wins came when he was at Kansas. What year did he come to the "ewe" ? Below is some evidence.

"INDIANAPOLIS - Kansas is in trouble once again for the bad judgment of its basketball program.

The university was placed on probation for three years for a handful of violations in men's basketball and football, the NCAA announced Thursday. There were no postseason bans."

"This time, the violations included a booster giving more than $5,000 in benefits to two basketball players and their families. One player received the majority of the benefits before and after he attended the university.

The NCAA report said other boosters gave graduation gifts to outgoing players, a fact that individuals within the athletic department were aware of, including former basketball coach Roy Williams."

"The school originally imposed a two-year probation on itself, but the NCAA committee decided to add another year, citing a lack of institutional control."

Don't blame you for wanting us out of the ACC, what with 32-64-6, and all.

(state college's record on the gridiron vs. The Flagship.)

That's gotta sting, and lets face it...you'll never make it up.

I'd like to think we give a young gun like Brad Stevens of Butler a look.

We can pretty much pick and choose whomever we want. Such is the stature of the job opening (if it opens) at The Flagship.

In other words, we won't be desperately bringing in some flash-in-the-pan no-name from the Mid-America conference. (*wink*)

The basketball program does seem to be declining under Roy, but firing him could absolutely destroy it. Who does Kerlina bring in to replace him; Hubert Davis, Matt Doherty, Wes Miller, etc.? I don't think Larry Brown or George Karl would have any interest in the job, and even if either of them did it would only be for a year or two. It looks like Kerlina's going to be a "football school" pretty soon (and hopefully an SEC or Big 10 one, at that).

If you are going to make claims back them up with evidence. Were you watching and listening to Roy for all these years or are you claiming guilt on someone by association. Again nothing new to see here, just someone that will always cast the first stone.

He has lost 2 games this year, and yes will have a few more losses, but that is to be expected with a team this young. Look at Kentucky for an example of talented players, a talented coach, but is just going to take some time to get them playing consistently. His record is in no way on the decline, in fact next year will be a great year for this UNC team. I think this year is going to be fine as well.
