Fedora doesn't have to "pursue" anyone. As a young coach, as long as he produces 8-4 or better seasons at UNC, he will be a candidate for a lot of postions higher up the ladder. One day he will probably take one of those - that's the way it works. A bit surprising to see it possibly happen after one year, but I am not particylarly upset or angry that he might be considering it. We UNC fans don't get immediately and emotionally totally invested and worhipful of new coaches like some fans of other nearby schools (hint hint).

    Yawn...

As Ken D. has pointed out, there are only like 3 ACC programs that would not be considered stepping stones for a top-notch coach...unless you go with an aging veteran like Grobe or TOBy.

Question is, who does Fedora pursue NEXT? :)

UT. I'm sure Charlie Strong could use an OC.

Seems there is a rumor of a "team meeting" scheduled for 4pm at Louisville.

I'll give you guys a break since you're reaching the breaking point. You can probably relax now. They don't normally call team meetings to announce the coach is staying. So maybe he's taking the UT position, thus removing the Hat from contention.

Question is, who does Fedora pursue NEXT? :)

No one needs ME for that. LOL Bubba's "non statement" is doing that, as are some media outlets. And Fedora's lack of a denial like we got from OUR coach regarding the Wiscy position is also contributing.

You sound as if your feelings are hurt. I'm truly sorry for stepping on your toes.

Reading between the lines, that statement (non-statement, actually) tells us the Fedora/Tennessee thing has legs. Not necessarily a done deal by any stretch. But this is the sort of statement that is made right before a coaching change happens. Or it might not happen. Who knows.

But if the issue was closed, no doubt they would have stated as much. This rumor only hurts recruiting the longer it stays alive.

Hearing Strong and Gundy are staying put. That should automatically put the Hat at the top of Tennessee's list. Stay tuned... still not hearing any denials from Fedora or Bubba.

Makes no sense why they would choose Fedora though. Dooley led Tenn to a school record points per game and also a school record of points given up per game. Wouldn't Fedora bring the same thing to the table?

The article I saw mentioned Strong and Gundy only. It also said one would likely accept, and the other would not. Didn't specify which. Fedora's name wasn't mentioned at all. I'd be shocked if Fedora took the job. Very shocked. Actually, I'm shocked he interviewed.

You know "SOME" state college fans.

They see their "all-World" basketball team FAILING to live up to the hype...they saw 43-35 in Kenan Stadium....they saw the coach who sent Russell Wilson packing to another college (for his senior year, no less) get kicked to the curb his own self 2 years later....they are grasping at something...ANYTHING...to feel remotely good about these days in sports.

    It's understandable.

Carolina might be getting lucky here... UT wants Strong (from Louisville). But word on the street is that Fedora wanted to interview for the UT job. So even if he stays, that can't bode well for the Holes.

And for someone who is not interviewing with UT, and is not interested in the job, why is it so hard for them to so much as tweet that he is not interested?

We'll get that tweet when UT rules him out as a candidate. That's what this type of silence normally means.

We all would hate to see Coach Fedora leave. No one blames a person for going for more money and an SEC school coaching job. If he does, we'll find another coach to carry on at UNC. I do agree with evenpar about moving to the big 10 rather than the SEC. UNC would be a much better fit there. The first improvement at UNC is to get rid of Holden Thorpe. Something that should have happened years ago.

i think that you could get lucky every once in a while and compete for a sec championship. i think we have the talent in nc to provide state or unc with the necessary talent to compete. if state or unc jumped to sec or even the big 10, we would start keeping a lot of instate talent here. i think the first school that jumps gets to call checkmate on the state of nc.
