Report: Butch Davis is the front-runner for the FIU job

Report: Butch Davis is the front-runner for the FIU job

UNC could save some money if he takes the coaching job, right?

RE: Report: Butch Davis is the front-runner for the FIU job

Sorry guys and gals. I tried to link to the story on CBSsports.com but it didn't attach.

RE: Report: Butch Davis is the front-runner for the FIU job

Wow, that's good news for UNC. Unless he takes the role as a "football consultant" again to avoid being called a "Coach".

RE: Report: Butch Davis is the front-runner for the FIU job

HA. So I guess the NFL gravy train dried up?

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think that?

He'd get more experience for less work and comparable money (with a school of FIU's size) to stay in the NFL as a "special assistant" than go coach at a mid-major when the NCAA already has their eye on him. Not to mention the $2.4 million annually that Orange County Remedial College is forking over to him so long as he doesn't have "coach" in his title.

That's why he'd have to be crazy to leave the nfl for that gig. Hence why I draw the conclusion that his gravy train is drying up if he's actually considering that job.

Or, maybe, his desire to coach outweighs a few bucks.

RE: Report: Butch Davis is the front-runner for the FIU job

If $2.4 million a year is just a "few bucks" to him, then by all means have at it.

I will say though that I'll laugh like a hyena if FIU gets hit with sanctions on his watch.
