Doubt that will happen. I do expect Lebo to have his team well prepare. Should be a decent game, with UNC probably winning by 15-18.

  • seedofdoubt Dec 13, 2012

Interesting stats: ECU points per game 79.1 rebounds 39.7 assists 17.1 fpg .457
giving up 62 ppg. last game they won 111 to 59 (that's 52 points, kiddies).
ECU's team is almost all experienced upperclassmen and UNC's next "cupcake" OR are they. UNC is giving up 66.8 ppg. Odds are UNC will win this home game but don't bet the house on it. UNC is scoring a whopping 4.3 ppg more than ECU but is giving up 4.8 ppg. UNC and ECU are fairly equal on paper. Really doesn't take much to go from 457 to 462. All in the way you look at it, I guess.

None of them are currently top 5 and Kentucky is not even ranked. Louisville was without one of the nations best shot blockers.

    Dook shot 45% vs. Kentucky
Dook shot 43% vs undermanned Louisville
Dook shot 47% vs. Ohio State

    Not exactly gut busting numbers.

If Duke played UNC's schedule, they'd be at .980.
And if UNC played Duke's, Roy would have run away by halftime of the Louisville game.

Are they where I want them to be? No, but I still see a lot of potential in this team. They have the talent they just aren't playing consistently together yet. There is still time to grow into a great team this year.

    Currently:
1st in the nation is assists
5th in the nation in rebounds
6th in the nation in ppg
71st in the nation in fgp needs much improving, but like the post above me says it really doesn't take much to go from .462-.480.

If you think the loss to the duke football team was a disaster, wait until the bb team plays Duke next year(2013).. Look for ol Roy to leave the floor with a least 5 minutes left on the clock. The Dean dump should be almost empty by the middle of the second half.

    Can North Carolina score consistently?
This has been something I and other hoops writers on Twitter have wondered since the earliest part of the season, and right now the answer appears to be no.
The Tar Heels have been living off offensive rebounds in the early part of the season. Their three poorest offensive performances -- in losses to Butler and Indiana and a win over East Tennessee State -- came in games in which the Heels grabbed 30 percent or fewer available offensive rebounds. Compounding their inability to score on initial possessions is their extremely low free throw rate. Right now, only two teams in the country get to the line with less frequency than the Heels (in terms of FTAs per FGA).
They're shooting the 3 at a decent rate, but they're well below normal North Carolina standards in terms of 2-point field goal percentage, a byproduct of the lineup they're rolling with this season. They have a freshman point guard (Marcus Paige) who is still learning on the job and their main frontcourt scoring threat (James Michael McAdoo) is converting less than 50 percent of his 2-point attempts, a poor rate for an athletic frontcourt player.
As inexperienced players settle into their roles, there may be some modest improvement, but preseason fears over a lopsided lineup with very little frontcourt pop and a rookie point guard seem to have been founded.
