If these schools do break away, and it looks like they will, will they still want Marquette and DePaul to be a part of whatever league they join/form?
I suspect there may still be some negotiating to do to try to preserve the residual tournament earnings for what was arguably the best basketball conference in the NCAA. There's a lot of money on the table - not like football money, but not chump change either.

Could/would UConn or Cin become basketball only? They do not garner much revenue from football. If they went basketball only do you think they might join with the departing BE members? This really screws UCONN, Cincinatti, Memphis, and Temple basketball wise.

That might be the most sensible solution. Those four, plus the five eastern BE basketball schools, plus Xavier would be a formidable eastern basketball conference.
Just let the BE get out of the football biz entirely.
