Actually, Duke fans know it took one heck of a comeback to beat State that night. And if Duke plays another half like that first half again this year, they probably won't pull it out. Of course, if Duke plays a half like that against UNC, we'd probably go into halftime only up by 10 or 12.

The Inferiority Complex so plainly observed in West Raleigh manifests itself in strange and assorted ways, many observe.

Their love for dook fits into that category I think we can all agree.

This one would look great also:

http://packinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/blackblue.pngWhat will you 1/2 Duke, 1/2 State fans say? It's okay, it's like we beat ourselves! While Dook fans laugh at you, you continue to support them.

ECU was seriously close to beating Roy at home. To many McD's. Lebo made some think about him in this one.

Here's looking forward to a similar headline a few times this year.

And they'll probably respond with some hogwash about Lehigh -- it's all they have! LOL

Roy told them to let up because of Lebo. Just in, you are not good enough to let up on anyone.

It may not be a quality win, but it sure is fun. When else have you ever seen a headline like this come out of the Associated Press:

No. 4 Duke Mauls North Carolina, 82-50

Rivalry games are fun for the fans, but beating a depleted and unranked Carolina team with several losses will not really be a quality win.

so Roy didn't recruit Tarc or McGary or Cody right? He ended up with a guard heavy team due to missed recruits and injury recovery.

nd and posters like her who post "Roy doesn't know what he's doing" only show that they know little about the game.

  • BlueDevils00 Dec 17, 2012
    Sports Legend

The point is-- Roy has no idea what he's doing. He kept recruiting SG after SG after SG until now his roster is nothing but SG's and a few big men that have no natural position. Thats why he already got beat by Butler and Indiana easily. Also why Duke is #1 and Coach K has 5 quality wins already, something UNC has 0 of.

I agree that Hariston needs more minutes. He is going to be a beast if and when he finally starts getting the minutes. If he had the same playing time as mccadoo he would actually be be the leading scorer. I also don't think Paige has shown himself worthy of the full time point position, maybe throw that to Strickland for now while Paige slowly learns and gets more comfortable as a backup. I like Paige, but so far he isn't what we need right now, but I know he will get better.

Like he did by having paid players on his team?

When was the last time RatK played 10-12 players rather than 5 -7?Probably never. That's the difference between a coach who knows what he's doing and Roy.

I'm playing a lot of people and I'm committed to that, Williams said of his line-up that had 12 players see the court Saturday. It was that eighth time in the season's first 10 games that at least a dozen players have seen the playing surface.

When was the last time RatK played 10-12 players rather than 5 -7?

One can't put too much weight on this one game. The tarheels will get better and they will be a team to watch out for this coming spring. I wouldn't put them in as top seeds in any tourney right now but I expect Coach Williams will have them competitive and ready to play by end of season.

    Yup, poor coaching.

Roy is a poor motivator, poor X and O's guy, just an overall average coach-- lucky to be at a university with a rich tradition that he can live off of for recruiting.

According to the UNC experts on the game thread this weekend, they "put the brakes on" for a half of each game. They just need to stop doing that, then everything will magically work itself out.

  • BlueDevils00 Dec 17, 2012

It's clear that McAdoo is not ready to step up and be a leader of this team. In my opinion, PJ Hairston is the best player for UNC. Unfortunately, Roy hasn't realized this, illustrated by his meager 17.3 MPG. Only 4 tarheels average 20+ MPG-- McAdoo, Paige, Strickland, Bullock. Leslue McDonald is next at 17.8.

Why isn't Roy playing Hairston more? His tendency to fall asleep on the defensive end? Too many SG's on the roster? Is he already in Roy's doghouse?

Roy needs to figure out a rotation, quickly. Beating a horrible ECU team by 6 is sure to frighten even the most loyal Tarholes.

Marcus Paiges' 3.8/2.8 Asst/TO ratio, against horrible competition, isn't doing the team any favors either.

I don't think any player can get into the flow of the game, offensively or defensively, if they're only playing 17MPG. Your best players should play the most. Someone let Roy know.

  • BlueDevils00 Dec 17, 2012
    Sports Legend

It wasn't pretty, but UNC managed an ugly 6pt win over arch rival ECU in the Dean Dome saturday. The 61 pts given up by the Tarheels in the 2nd half was the most ever in the Roy Williams era. UNC will most likely slide down in the top-25 polls, if not fall out of it entirely.

Can you say... NIT! NIT! NIT!
