UNC Guts one out vs ECU
It wasn't pretty, but UNC managed an ugly 6pt win over arch rival ECU in the Dean Dome saturday. The 61 pts given up by the Tarheels in the 2nd half was the most ever in the Roy Williams era. UNC will most likely slide down in the top-25 polls, if not fall out of it entirely.
Can you say... NIT! NIT! NIT!
RE: UNC Guts one out vs ECU
It's clear that McAdoo is not ready to step up and be a leader of this team. In my opinion, PJ Hairston is the best player for UNC. Unfortunately, Roy hasn't realized this, illustrated by his meager 17.3 MPG. Only 4 tarheels average 20+ MPG-- McAdoo, Paige, Strickland, Bullock. Leslue McDonald is next at 17.8.
Why isn't Roy playing Hairston more? His tendency to fall asleep on the defensive end? Too many SG's on the roster? Is he already in Roy's doghouse?
Roy needs to figure out a rotation, quickly. Beating a horrible ECU team by 6 is sure to frighten even the most loyal Tarholes.
Marcus Paiges' 3.8/2.8 Asst/TO ratio, against horrible competition, isn't doing the team any favors either.
I don't think any player can get into the flow of the game, offensively or defensively, if they're only playing 17MPG. Your best players should play the most. Someone let Roy know.
RE: UNC Guts one out vs ECU
According to the UNC
experts on the game thread this weekend, they "put the brakes on" for a half of each game. They just need to stop doing that, then everything will magically work itself out.

unc shuld have beat them by 30+ but only by like 5 sad sad sad.

Yup, poor coaching.
Roy is a poor motivator, poor X and O's guy, just an overall average coach-- lucky to be at a university with a rich tradition that he can live off of for recruiting.
RE: UNC Guts one out vs ECU
One can't put too much weight on this one game. The tarheels will get better and they will be a team to watch out for this coming spring. I wouldn't put them in as top seeds in any tourney right now but I expect Coach Williams will have them competitive and ready to play by end of season.

geez you dook boys don't understand do you? Sit back and watch, maybe you can learn something.

I'm playing a lot of people and I'm committed to that, Williams said of his line-up that had 12 players see the court Saturday. It was that eighth time in the season's first 10 games that at least a dozen players have seen the playing surface.
When was the last time RatK played 10-12 players rather than 5 -7?
RE: UNC Guts one out vs ECU
If that game was 5 minutes longer, ECU would have won. Right Heel's fans(reference Butler topics in the past)?

Sorry, but this blog caption is just too funny! :)

When was the last time RatK played 10-12 players rather than 5 -7?Probably never. That's the difference between a coach who knows what he's doing and Roy.
