Still no independent investigation at UNC
The Jim Martin "review" was no doubt supposed to give the appearance of being an independent investigation. But it is nothing of the sort. First of all, to be truly "independent", someone outside of Carolina would have to pick WHO conducts it. When you choose your own investigator, it ain't an independent investigation. Sorry.Secondly, Martin's task was VERY LIMITED in scope: To see if the academic irregularities that have already been found from 2007 to 2011 go back further.

We are hearing a lot of interest in this report, in part because Thorp has said Martin has the authority to go look anywhere he sees fit. But the charge given to Martin is somewhat narrow: See if the academic irregularities that have already been found from 2007 to 2011 go back further.
Dan Kane has just fired another shot in UNC's direction. Here's to seeing Jim Martin's whitewashed finding, only to be followed up with the REAL damning information that Dan Kane has in his arsenal.
This is getting good. Better break out some popcorn!
