That's plain stupid TBK. The big 3 recruit mostly the same players. So, if Barnes had gone to State, he would not have been a 5 Star recruit?

That was true when Sidney Lowe was the coach. If you were a recruiting agency and a player committed to Sidney Lowe would you not figure that his talent would decrease?

You mean, the WIN over UNCA?

It was a trap game, since you asked. The next game was AT MICHIGAN. We thought we had a cakewalk, and UNCA came in shooting lights out.

But we still won. At least with State, we only have that ugly win and the ugly loss to Oklahoma State. If you're honest, you'll just admit Carolina has looked bad against every decent team they've played (which hasn't been many). Even the IC meltdowners are already talking NIT for the Holes.

It's well known that recruits get bumped in their "star ratings" when they choose Carolina. They also get invitations to the All-Hamburger game. Commit to State, though, and your ratings go down and you don't get invited.

That's how it works. Carolina has JMM this year. That's about it.

Roy won championships despite being a bad coach because there was no lack of talent in those years. (I assume we're talking about in-game coaching here, not recruiting...) Roy is a terrible in-game coach. It is just USUALLY masked by the abundance of talent and the UNC refs that bleed Carolina blue (they are the only reason Carolina kept THIS game close!)

This year, there is a lack of talent, and bad coaching.

I absolutely CANNOT WAIT until we play this year. I wish it was this Saturday!

Now call Roy and let him know! Hubert is looking out of control when he is on the floor. This game could have been closer if the UNC players did not feel the need to try and break the back board when they go for those awesome missed dunks. I believe there were 4 missed dunks, who knows how the 2nd half would have gone had they had 8 more points. And Roy, call a time out when you are getting raped ffs! To have a first half like that and not call a time out is unacceptable. McAdoo and Bullock are this team's only saving grace this year. Those 2 will have to carry UNC every inch if they are to make the NCAA this year McAdoo is a man amongst boys out there and it has to be frustrating for him.

so long story short....its coach ROids fault.

    Good thread.....now where to start!

Its the players and Roys fault!

    Change your starting lineup to:

PG: Stricland - And remind him to pass and not shoot beyond 8 feet.
SG: Hairston:- Let him get in a rythem instead of pulling him every few minutes.
SF: Bullock - Good player and playing hard. Lone bright spot so far.
PF: McAdoo - Potential double/double every game.
C: Johnson - Upside is scoring. Downside is defense.

Paige is just not ready at pg IMO. Give him 10 minutes a game and let him learn. Roy has shooters but with his mass substitutions they can't get in a rythem at all! Stop the 5 for swaps! I think McDonald is the possible problem on the team that the players keep refering to without mentioning names. He seems to be a stat padder! If this is the case bench his tail!

Listening to the talk shows today I understand that Carolina lost a ton of talent last year but so do other teams. Theres enough talent on this team to win big and I am so tired of hearing about players "not buying in". This season is getting bad and will probably get worse the way it looks!

Roy needs to make changes now or get the he!! out!

Oh.........and what the he!! is up with the "Desmond Hubert" experiment?!? Did Roy sleep with his sister or something and they are holding that over his head to get him playing time? To me this is the biggest factor of all that makes Roy look like an id!ot!

some are in full-blown defense mode(see THV)....havent seen this type of passion since: a) the announcement of possible violations by unc/players, i.e., heelgate(the defenders were wrong, over&over&over...), and b) the 2010 season melt-down resulting in the nit appearance(defenders became mutineers)...LOL!!

Shouldnt a HOF coach be able to handle ego's on this level?

Face it, Roy wins when he has the most talent.

He coached at Kansas when they were in the Big 8 and had very little competition.

    Then he came to UNC.

Two Blue Bloods. It is not like he spent 5 years at West Point.

Remove West Point from K's career and see what his winning % is.

And lastly, who gives a shyt about winning %. Another meaningless stat for announcers to blubber about during a game.

Kind of like Jimmy Dykers slurping on JMM the entire game last night.

that talent you speak of looked extraordinarily sloppy last night...maybe it is there...but I clearly remember hearing the announcer say that unc has no one at any position that is top 5 in the country at said position...roy can coach them up though. As I have been saying, paige as to rally this squad.

  • DooksucksV3 Dec 20, 2012

Neither. The talent is there, the coaching is proven to the best winning percentage among active coaches.

The problem as Reggie Bullock pointed out is the ego's of players trying to pad their stats playing AAU style summer ball. That does not work in college and you can have a massive talent edge and get your behind kicked by lesser talent.

This team is lacking consistant PG and Post play. Those are the two issues. It has nothing to do with X's and O's. If you pass the ball inside and your post player fumbles it away, then that is not on the coach. As far as X's and O's, sometimes you just cannot make enough adjustments to win. If it were only on the coach, there would be more far more National Titles in the Triangle.

  • BlueDevils00 Dec 20, 2012
    Sports Legend

Plenty of talent, just not the right pieces. 4 of the best 5/6 players on this team are all SG's. Nowhere to fit, no chemistry, no versatility in lineup selection.

Also, Roy is a horrible X and O, and halftime adjustment coach. If he doesn't have 3 or 4 lottery picks, his team plays in the NIT.
