Cant really blame them can we? 3rd fiddle surely gets old after sooooo many years.

I agree with you....I see The Flagship staying securely docked right where she has been for the past 60 years.

You are easily amused. State is the one that wants to move to another Conference, not UNC.

You could not pay me to coach college ball. I love my stress free life! No media in my face and no fans giving me the what for. No thank you!

I know this is nit picking, but, do you mean by the end of the year (11 days away) or the end of the season? I think there will be improvements (barring any injuries) on all the ACC teams by the end of the season.

Well aren't you just insightful? Roy should clearly resign and let you take over his job.

Some hater started a thread asking if he would become an elite PG at UNC. No Heels fan said it, to my knowledge. This team has a high ceiling and can turn things around. It is going to take group effort to accomplish this task. The Team is setting up well for the next few years and will get back to the top in the near future!

Good points to start this thread..all valid
Not sure who said Paige would be "elite" as a freshman at UNC with very little experience to support him returning from last season. It's really no surprise that this team is struggling. They will be better by the end of the year. How much better is still be be seen. 11 games into the season they still have no identity and no proven floor leader. Paige will improve and learn to play at this level, hopefully the same will apply to the entire squad. Not many PG's come into this league and set it on fire. Their struggles are team oriented not point guard centric.

They've got no where to go but up. Could this team actually be worse than the 2010 nit runner-up squad? That is the question.

One GLARING stat stood out in the first half: 1 assist...until the one minute mark before halftime...and only 2 for the entire half. Second half that changed and it was a better showing for the Heels.

JMM needs more shots. 5 in the first half against Texas will not get it!

  • Tar Heels Victory-Show No Mercer Dec 20, 2012

    1. Strickland needs to penetrate and dish. His quickness will allow him to get to the lane easily, which will open things up for everyone.

    2. Paige needs to let the game come to him and not force things. He needs to read the defense better and not worry about putting up a rushed shot if he gets frustrated.

    3. Joel James has unlimited potential, but until he can catch the ball with strenght down low, he will get out muscled by smaller guys. There are too many times that he has a rebound that goes through his hands or gets the ball in the post and loses it out of bounds.

    4. JMM just needs to be himself. He is a slasher, turn around jump shooter. He needs to work on his handles. If he could dribble, it would be very difficult to keep him from getting to the basket. He also needs to get more physical down low. He often gets the ball taken from him, by lesser players.

    5. Bullock has been one of the more consistant Heels. He can slash and bury the 3 ball. He needs to continue to be a threat inside and out.

    6. Hairston needs to use his strenght and bang down low. He is a good rebounder and can absorb contact on drives to the basket. He also can hit it from deep. He needs to drive to the basket more, which will open up opportunities from the 3 point line.

    7. Leslie, so far this seaons, is hitting a high percentage from behind the Arc. He also can drive to the basket, which will make him more of a dual threat.

    8. JP can rebound, block shots and score down low. He just needs to get more aggressive on both ends of the ball. He is fairly quick and should drive to the basket against less athletic guys.

    9. Brice has a quick release on his shot, but he needs to bulk up in order to be an effective post scorer. He has good range on his shot, so he should pull guys out of the lane and drive to the basket.

    10. Desmond just needs to rebound and be a prescence in the middle. He should never try to lay the ball in, just dunk everytime.
