If he could, he most certainly would.

But Swofford can't put the ball through the hoop. All they can do is help as much as they can. This team is so bad, they are having a hard time winning even with the extra help from the zebras.

At least I got the margin of defeat right. And like I said, UNC is too SOFT. Their big men are absolutely pitiful. Khadji and Gamble pushed them around all night. Imagine if Miami had Reggie Johnson.

Hey Dooksucks, who are you blaming this loss on? The return of Rion Brown?

You're assuming they could and should be doing better.

I think we've seen their ceiling. They don't have it this year.

This will be a defining game for the Heels...can they still salvage the season or is it all but over? Starting 0-2 in the ACC this year is unacceptable, and this young team with fragile egos, IMO, could not overcome that. Carolina is at home and that seems to give them a boost. Think they may have learned a lot if they watched much tape from the UVA game. Carolina takes it at home 79-69.

WOw - that's alarming. I thought UVA would walk over Wake. Now even the "bad" teams are playing better. Miami is without a key player, so that may help UNC's cause, but I'm not sure who will win this game. While Carolina is without McDonald, I wouldn't call him a "key" player.

I don't know about "having their way", but i do think miami comes away with it. Miami has five quality wins against rpi 100 or less teams... unc just the one vs unlv. Miami did get spanked by arizona... but it was az after all. Otherwise miami has beem pretty consistant, and are 4-1 playing in true road games... so they can obviously get it done in a hostile environment.

Well, Wake beat Virginia tonight (Wake!) and Texas also lost tonight. Some of Carolina's losses are looking even worse now. I'm thinking Miami pretty much has their way with Carolina. And I say that not even knowing who the home team is.

I am not understanding any of this dribble regarding "Sassie". It does sound like an interesting individual as do many who participate on this sports group. I can assure you I am not this person. At any rate I do enjoy the "banter" as mentioned and as I said before a lot of good humor exists here also. I enjoyed the Duke game tonight and look forward to the NCSU and GT game Wednesday. I have early classes in the morning so have to go now. Have a wonderful evening all!

As you are new here, I will fill you in. That guy is a troll from waaay back. He has had many names, the latest being All ACC Fan, before this one. He was originally Sassie, about a year ago. I see.

But then the problem becomes that you have chosen a poor example to prove your thesis, as the quoted post concerns the reported opinion of a member of local media that miami the opposing team in the game that is the subject of this thread, is one of the top 4 teams in the acc. An appropriate and relevent post, unc fan or nay.

Aside from that we may quibble some over what is/isn't trolling or what does/doesn't make one a troll, but I do (in general) agree that much of the substanceless "junk" could go. However, one might find this site to be a very stale cookie without a degree of (mostly) light-hearted banter and baiting. I know i would.

And as to this being the unc board... do you really believe that this, the state, or the duke forum would be better served if only that always the skies were blue, the birds singing, and the many happy people holding hands? By god... and you should know this as a psych student... sports have their origin, indeed their very taste and feel.. grown from the roots of battle, and war! Soft-handed niceties may alight here from time to time, when the wind is calm.... but the jungle will forever return to the flashing of teeth and kidnapping of cubs with the slightest breeze.

Better to look for battle tactics, than "thought patterns", imho.

Posted on the Carolina site by a NCSU fan that claims to not be a person who posts negative things about other teams, i.e. Troll. that is my point sir. If this was newsworthy on the NCSU site I would agree with you. I simply find this type of thought pattern interesting as I truly think that TB in NC means no harm and feels he is not a TROLL. But yet he is when you look at it.

Seems like a perfectly legitimate post to me.... just as it would have had unc been one of the "four best" attributed to the announcer. Legitimate news.... another opinion from the media in the ring.
I have to add, because i'm not certain if you "see" it, that your post comes off as a bit condescending.... and bespeaks of what some would call a tendancy towards passive aggression.
    Anyone can be psychoanalyzed.

Another nice post that would seem like Trolling for TB in NC. Interesting for you to feel the need to post that on the Carolina site. But reading your earlier postings and you seem to feel like you are a good guy and not a troller. I am currently in school and thinking of writing my thesis using some of you posters here and your mannerisims and what you do versus what you think you mean. I am a pychology student. TB, you will be an excellent candidate for this as you really seem convinced you are the nicest of the posters yet you keep trolling against Carolina supposedly unkowingly.

Heard the GT radio annoucer on 99.9 thefan today. He says Miami is one of the top 4 teams in the ACC this year. Btw, Duke, State, and Maryland were his other 3. In no particular order, after Duke, I believe.

I do not feel a lot of you fans from other schools give enough credit to the great job Fedora did with this team. Also no one seems to recall how Gio was out several games or their season record would have been even better. We all should celebrate the fact that one of the four NC universities was able to have a good season that could easily have been much better. Instead we choose to throw stones and complain about one another. We all should just get along. In watching this sports group I have noticed quickly that the one with the Rhinocerus Avatar takes 5 posts to say what should be in 1. Not sure why he does that but it is irritating for readers.

UNC's shooting was poor vs UVA. UVA has a stout defense and they made UNC show it down. Miami has improved since some early loses. I would pick Miami slightly over UNC. They don't quit on this coach.

But most of you play up the "we would have won the division" thing without acknowledging that the planets were in perfect alignment for that to happen. When will that happen again?

    1) No Clemson and no FSU on the schedule
    2) Normally strong GT and VT were both very weak this year.
    3) Carolina had Gio, who single-handedly won some games for Carolina this year, namely one red & white team from Raleigh.

Let me bring up again that I suggested Carolina should self-impose a bowl ban instead of going to the Music City Bowl in 2011. Had they done that, they'd have already served their postseason ban. So when they won the division in 2012, they could have played in the ACCCG. (Actually, they still wouldn't have due to Miami pulling their name out of the postseason hat. But with Miami still in, Carolina does win the division this year...)

Only a small comment on the schedule. I have noted the schedule issues before in various contexts. For example, State had a much easier schedule last year than the previous one under Lowe, which was the toughest one that year. This year, the highest remaining SoS are UNC and VT, if I remember.

I don't post much here, rarely make excuses. But I do my research.

  • blueduke4 Jan 8, 2013

So we are using scheduling as an excuse now? Got it. Since you are considering UNC's schedule to be so unfavorable...you must think Duke has an armageddon schedule with it being #1 in all of division 1 basketball. Right?
