ESPN has come out with the BPI (basketball points index). We already have so many (such as RPI, Sagarin, and KenPom) and I'm curious as to which one most of you rely on or trust the most.- Posted by Dreamchaser

I watch alot of games and use my own brain to determine who and why I feel teams should be ranked. I trust myself over some braniac who needs numbers to help him lie and develop a viewpoint.
Kind of like you UNCheat fans constantly bytching about Dukes schedule when each and every year they are in the top 5 in SOS and RPI. Doesnt change UNCheat fans opinions that Duke plays a tough schedule, they have their own preconcieved opinions.
Get your panties out of a wad and try being decent for a change

I think they all have great input in some sort of fashion. I usually take the average of all the major ones to determine certain things closer to Selection Sunday. But, the eye test is one that can't be skewed by a spreadsheet of numbers.

Agreed on the eye test, but once you get out of the top few it's hard to watch all of the other teams enough to really get a good feel of the team's strength. Most people see a lot of conference games but not that many out of conference, unless you truly are a fanatic.
Even years when it would appear to outsiders that one or the had a decided advantage we fans somehow knew it would end up being a heated contest that The Flagship has won 132 times to our 102.
