Why UNC is squarely on the bubble

RE: Why UNC is squarely on the bubble

They definitely have work to do, no denying that.

RE: Why UNC is squarely on the bubble

Not trying to start anything, but I am a little surprised that the mods at WRAL continue to let you post entire articles from another site's premium content. I guess anything that will get more hits for their site is all they care about.

But, back on topic.. I think UNC squeaks in the dance. I didn't feel this way a few weeks ago, but I have seen some things during the games that tell me otherwise. This team is improving, and it would not shock me to see them beat both State and Duke at home. even Realtime RPI has backed off their predictions. Just two weeks ago they were projected to finish 8-10 in conference, now they have them at 11-7. I think 10-8 gets them in purely based of name, so that is one plus they have going for them.

RE: Why UNC is squarely on the bubble

Carolina looks like a different team over the last four games. They have a lot more work to do, but I now think they can make the dance. A month ago, they weren't playing like a team that would be dancing in March.

RE: Why UNC is squarely on the bubble

Roy is starting three players who are not scoring threats and rarely lets his scoring threats stay in together.
Even the UNC community is calling him out on it.
Who else would start a shooting guard who can't shoot?
If the best players play and play the majority of the minutes, 4 of these losses more than likely never happen. It is just too easy for defenses to key in when three players are of no threat to score.

Roy has a problem with being loyal to the end no matter what. Have Dex at the SG position is a joke.

And that is glaring right now.

Dex is not the same player he was before the knee injury and he is not the leader of the team (that would be Bullock). PJ would start at almost any other Div. 1 school.

And Hubert?

Don't get me started on that one. I can only imagine how much farther Brice Johnson would have progressed by now if he had the starting nod.

RE: Why UNC is squarely on the bubble

I can't argue with any of this. I saw before the loss at State that Carolina was one of the last four teams in the NCAAT, at a 12-seed, according to Joe Lunardi, so take it for what it's worth. After the loss, we're probably "bubbalicious" or out completely, for now.

As for the upcoming games, I see games @ Duke and Miami as losses, and possibly losing to State at the Smith Center. Don't say it can't happen, because it can. I don't see State getting up by 28 at the Smith Center, but I do see them playing a very tough game.

Carolina's fate may come down to how they play in the ACCT, and we all know what Roy thinks about that; however, if the ACCT is Carolina's possible ticket to the Dance, Roy may put a lot of emphasis on it.
