ACC Tourney in NYC

5 miles was too far for him and the starters to run if they had to make another retreat. He was just making sure his contingency plan was in place.

I can't see why you would want to hold this tournament anyplace but Charlotte.
The last time they had it in Charlotte, Roy whined about being put at the Hilton in University City about 5 miles from downtown. Coincidently, Duke was assigned to the Ritz Carlton a few blocks from the Arena.

For the life of me, I can't see why you would want to hold this tournament anyplace but Charlotte. Out of the 15 schools, fans of 5 of them are going to fly pretty much anywhere you hold it, unless you are crazy enough to put it in Florida. That would be Pitt, ND, Louisville, FSU and Miami. That leaves 10 schools whose travel plans could vary depending on the tourney site.
If you play in NYC, fans of only 2 schools (BC and Syracuse) have less than a six hour drive (a little over 4 hours each), and only 2 more (Pitt and UVa) are under 8 hours.
In Charlotte, 8 schools are within easy driving distance, with only Syracuse and BC being too far too drive.
And somebody would have to explain to me why it matters to TV where the games are played. Except for the decals on the floor, all the courts look pretty much alike.

Once they move it to MSG and the ACC accountants count the numbers, they will never justify having it in Greensboro again. I could see a rotation between the 2 NYC arenas, Washington DC, and Atlanta. Now that you're spreading 20k or so tickets between 16 schools instead of 12, this event is going to outprice the blue collar fans anyway. The only people going to the tourney will be the top-dollar boosters who don't care how much round trip and 4 nights to NYC costs because they're loaded... And the scalpers in NYC will figure out a way to get their share of tickets and make a ton off the secondary market.

oh lord....what does that have to do with Little League being bigger than college baseball?

I hope you are right about bringing it back. However, if the big TV and other money wants it to stay away, I suspect we will never see the ACC in Greensboro again. That would be a shame.
