Mr. Ostrich, it happens at EVERY UNIVERSITY, guaranteed. Why do you think they need an honor court? I've never seen such stoopidity as you girlz who just can't seem to get past the "We are clean because we have never been caught". Everyone is clean as a whistle till they get caught. Ask Madoff, or Lombard, or Glover, or Mustafa, or Mary Easley, or Michael McAdoo, or the cheats in the Duke B-school scandal, or the over 100 cases that come before the NCSU honor court every year.

Dude, you need to get some reading skillz. I have chastised the Heels and vehemently admonsished the transgressions. Do you even understand the jist of this thread? It's about it happening everywhere, even at Harvard. It's not an excuse but I'm stating an absolute fact, it does happen at EVERY UNIVERSITY to one degree or another. You seem to equate being caught with the act of cheating. Quite a bit of cheating goes on that is not caught.

When your school is caught cheating, one course of action is to claim everyone else is doing it. Or you can admit the mistakes, come clean and still have some dignity. We see which route UNC and some fans have taken. Sad. Just like Lance Armstrong, Pete Rose and others if they would have just come clean people would not think the worst. The problems at UNC probably aren't as bad as people think. But when you hide and lie people are going to think the worst.

"Gov. Pat McCrory is right. The undergraduate experience at UNC-Chapel Hill is largely a waste of time unless, of course, a student has graduate school plans. I graduated from UNC 10 years ago, and if it were not for the master's degree in statistics I received from N. C. State three years later, I would have no marketable skills today. Obviously there are elements of a liberal arts education that are useful and enriching; everyone needs to learn how to speak, write, and communicate ideas. However, some of the classes offered while I was a student ( History of Rock 'N Roll, Japanese Gardens) were absurdly pointless - which, of course, made them hugely popular. Why not teach "Intro To Fantasy Football"? Not only would it fit perfectly into a 21st century sociology curriculum, it would teach students strategic thinking as well. UNC graduates will always impress, simply because they're already impressive upon admission. But UNC owes its students more for its tuition than just a piece of paper."

No impermissable help, no plagarism, no pay for getting papers done (a big problem at Duke according to one study), no sharing of test information to other classes (One study found 67% in one class tried to get the right answers to a test before they took it).

How do you define "as dirty". Dirtier if you only look at drug trafficing. Is it me or are you that naive? Yunno, they thought Duke Medical Research flawless and beyond reproach until it was exposed in a particular case. Do you think Duke stopped doing research? No, they cleaned it up and put better control in place. Considering the studies your own professor did at Duke on cheating and the numbers he found amongst your undergrads, you might be more careful thowing around the "cheat" reference. But one thing about some of you Dookies, you do like to portray yourselves as without any sin, even saintly, until you get exposed.

Gave what I had. Again, you seem to forget that "being caught" is not what I'm talking about. Use my speeding analogy as reference. So you really want to be caught to prove it's happening? Not as smart as you give yourself credit for being. I know it happens everywhere so I'm hopeful UNC remains vigilant in keeping it under control just like you hope Cutcliffe is vigilant at making sure he does not have any more drug dealers on the football team. But you seem to think catching a transgression has something to do with the act of transgression in that if it is not caught, it never has happened. Yunno everyone thought Frank Lombard a great guy at Duke till he was caught as a pedophile. See how that works MO. That will be $50,000 for the Mastes lesson in Psychology. I want Duke degree money for teaching you that.

Does not make the party right. We could talk about Frank Lombard which is way worse than anything that has ever happened at UNC, or we could talk about Tyree Glover. Again, maybe you don't understand the jist of the post. The idea is for you to find it and fix it BEFORE the NCAA gets to you. To pretend it's not happening in your backyard is total lunacy. So true, Ken. There's not enough "student" in the student/athlete moniker. This brings us back to the idea of schools sponsoring football and basketball teams that are a separate entity from the academic side of a university; but then the NCAA would lose its cash cow, so I don't see this happening.

    Ahhh...no NCAA copies yet but...
...largest B-School cheating scandal in history
    ...largest research scandal in history
...in one study 67% of a popular class that included athletes attempted to cheat by getting copies of an exam early (can you say Harvard?)
    ...LAX
...90 Professors who condemned the LAX players and never recanted
...Richard Nixon ...48% of Duke Professors surveyed say cheating is a major issue at Duke ...over 30% of students surveyed admitted to getting impermissable help on papers or having the work done for them Just because an athlete has not been caught does not mean athletes are not doing it...statistically with all the numbers from the survey done by your own professor on ethics, it's pretty much mathematically impossible for athletes to not be involved. The boyz in the LAX scandal got lucky they hired a psychotic for escort services, she was easy to discredit... BTW, I'm still looking for the "Lance Thomas" loan special because I can sure use $100K I can't pay back...
