If Hicks is resting an ankle then it makes sense. Also, the PF spot is loaded this year (Gordon, Randle, Parker, Vonleh), maybe they needed another Center.

Nate Britt was once a top-20, 5-star PG who was being touted as better than Paige. Not sure what's happened (no game film i've seen), but he's dropped from top-20 to mid-50's. Paige may be the playmaker at UNC for the foreseeable future.

Joel Berry, 2014 PG signed w/ UNC is a STUD though.

And if you diss K, you must really diss DES and Roy. Took two of them to equal K in NC's.

All the coaches have a system and they recruit players to fill that system. When you can't get a player to fill in your system, they you have problems. Any dummy knows that. K recruits player to fill in as any other coach does. The trouble with K is he gets the best players in the country, applies his system, then loses to teams that has better coaches like Lee says HI!

    You dont have to listen.

And if you think K gets who he wants each and every year, you havent been paying attention.

Face it, K can do more with less than Roy. Roy needs a certain type of player (star, quick PG) and a stud 5 to be successful. That is his system.

K changes his system to fit his players. Everyone with a brain knows this.

  • PacknoPride Feb 13, 2013

Everyday I read bragging about the recruits Duke is getting. Kennedy Meeks, Jabari Parker, Mattf Jones, Semi Ojeleye. How much better they are than anything Carolina is recruiting, and how Roy is losing his a good recruiter, and Kis a developer. Last year it was Jefferson and Sulaimon. Year after year we all have to listen to this sheet, but somehow Roy is a better recruiter and k is a better coach. We all know that in any sport recruiting is the key to winning. Roy has suffered with rectuiting in the past years plus having 4 players leave to go to the NBA hurt. Losing the Wear twins, and Tyler Zeller brother to Indiana hurt Roy. The article about coach williams not teaching his player is pure bs. Seller, Henson, Barnes, all improved at Carolina.
The fact is that K out recruits Roy and any other coach in college basketball. He gets who he wants every year to replace the talent that is leaving. So, either you are getting the best recruits or you aren't and K is developing them. Which is it?

    Sure thing, scooter.

"But I've heard NBA scout after NBA scout make the same observation about Williams' recent teams: He still recruits as well as any coach in the country, but his players don't really seem to get any better the longer they stay in the program. Whether it's the fact that Williams recruits players who just happen to not put in extra work -- or whether he doesn't push them quite as hard -- a lot of North Carolina players seem to leave UNC with nearly the same skill set they came in with."

Duke 5-star commits Matt Jones (#24) and Jabari Parker (#2) were invited. Jordan snubbed 5-star Duke commit Semi Ojeleye (#25) despite averaging over 40PPG in Ottawa, KS.

This is bizarre. The best UNC recruit always gets invited to the Jordan Brand Classic high school all-star game. UNC commit Isaiah Hicks is a 5-star PF ranked #20 in the 2013 class. He was not invited. Instead, 4-star Center Kennedy Meeks, who is #50 overall, was invited.

I wonder why Hicks was not invited, being from North Carolina and the crown jewel of Roy's 2013 haul.

    Bizarre.
