RE: The refs were paid to day
well, I was at the game.... Sitting so close I could see that UVA's only offense to get an open shot was to run illegal moving screens at the top of the key...
When you hand the ball off to another player you cannot then step into the trailing defenders path.... that is the literal definition of a moving screen...
if you watch the tape UVA's bigs did this every single time and were never called for it...
So i would say that if the game were called by the rules as set forth by the NCAA several of UVA's wide open looks would have been taken away by a competent officiating crew....
Unfortunately folks, there are NO competent crews in the ACC...
I also struggle to watch guys on the perimeter that catch the ball while establishing one foot as their pivot and then they proceed to pick up that foot before bouncing the ball on the deck...
That's a walk... there are several players on every team that get away with that...
perhaps the worst is Craft at OSU...
next time you watch a game watch on a perimeter catch which foot is established as the pivot and which is picked up before the ball is dribbled...
RE: The refs were paid to day
Those refs sure hit alot of threes
RE: The refs were paid to day
P J Hairston is a referee?

This sounds alot like what Seth "5-Step" Curry did last year when he hit that 3-pointer with 20 seconds to go in the Dean Dome.
Catch ball......take 5-steps.......dribble away without whistle...hit 3-pointer.
That play (and blown call) deserves as much attention as Rivers' game winner, for those who were paying attention.
