This sounds alot like what Seth "5-Step" Curry did last year when he hit that 3-pointer with 20 seconds to go in the Dean Dome.

    Catch ball......take 5-steps.......dribble away without whistle...hit 3-pointer.

That play (and blown call) deserves as much attention as Rivers' game winner, for those who were paying attention.

well, I was at the game.... Sitting so close I could see that UVA's only offense to get an open shot was to run illegal moving screens at the top of the key...
When you hand the ball off to another player you cannot then step into the trailing defenders path.... that is the literal definition of a moving screen...
if you watch the tape UVA's bigs did this every single time and were never called for it...
So i would say that if the game were called by the rules as set forth by the NCAA several of UVA's wide open looks would have been taken away by a competent officiating crew....
Unfortunately folks, there are NO competent crews in the ACC...
I also struggle to watch guys on the perimeter that catch the ball while establishing one foot as their pivot and then they proceed to pick up that foot before bouncing the ball on the deck...
That's a walk... there are several players on every team that get away with that... perhaps the worst is Craft at OSU... next time you watch a game watch on a perimeter catch which foot is established as the pivot and which is picked up before the ball is dribbled...

Get what you're saying. Certain teams get the calls at home, Duke included. There is a reason coaches get T'd up on occasion.

the MOST 3pt attempts + MOST FT attempts = RAREFIED air

If I were UVA's coach, I'd have been FURIOUS... just as he WAS, for MOST of the game yesterday.

    he knew.
    we all knew.

  • BattlingBishop 5 Feb 17, 2013

    VT shot 80 FGs (23 3s)
State shot 55 FGs (18 3s), only 5 fewer than VT

    FTs
    VT - 7
    State - 43

If I were coaching VT, there would have been a Technical or two.

  • Wolfpackindahizzy4shizzy Feb 17, 2013

VT took MORE 3ptrs than NCSU.

that's TYPICALLY how it works out... the team that shoots the MOST 3ptrs, doesn't also shoot the MOST FTs.

a questionable, RARE, occurrence.... rather UNlike the contrary.

    :)

I'd love to see another example of a college team taking that many FTs and 3ptrs in the same game.

    wild, weird, questionable stuff.

Yunno Douggie, that math just flew over TrollSACs head at Mach 4. The kid has trouble counting to 10 so you may have to break it down a bit more. But hey, he "earned" a college degree (LMAO)

Since I was there, UVA also took a chance by putting UNC on the FT line by not letting them hit anything going to the basket or around it. After the last game's FT woes, it was a sound tactic. Heels have been up/down at the FT line and why let somone have a layup that's shooting 50-60% from the charity stripe.

It's hilarious how some of these Red Ragers like ToolSAC are so ignorant.

^^^^ Simple minds can't fathom simple math, known fact.

Heels took 59 total shots today, of which 28 were 3 point shots, That leaves 31 2 pt shots, of which they were fouled on, let's say, 15 shots. So, dum dum, 15 shots fouled on (X) 2 free throws per foul = 30 FT attempts. And that doesn't even include missed one and ones, player control fouls, etc etc which would skew the exact numbers but still totals 30 free throws. Consider UVA committed 21 fouls....that's gonna get the number of FT's up there.....think you can comprehend that, mowron?

Now, try to explain the state college FT disparity, cuz 43 to 7 really smells like some bad chicken soup.

See ya in the Dean Dome next Saturday, punk.... hate to tell you, but Karl Hess is on slate too, LOL.

I could tell when the heels came out for the second half they had been told the refs took the money.. No problem. Then came the foul calls. I wondered if anyone else would pick up on all the calls in the second half against Va. It was pretty obvious to anyone watching the game. I am surprised the ones calling the game did not seem to catch it.
