Most executives don't get demoted within an organization, they leave. That's par for the course in the private sector and I wouldn't expect anything different with Thorpe.

The way I see it is money talks. Thorp was demoted after he "thorpedoed" the entire school. No way anybody would give up being chancellor in the prime of their career just to teach. So seeing as how he was going to take a pay cut and still wanted to afford Tammy Hansbrough's services, he had to look elsewhere. Washington was a natural choice as they offered the $$$$$. Now he'll have lots of $1's to give Tammy. ROFL!!!!!

Nothing to see here. Thorp would have had a hard time gaining the respect of his new "peers" at Carolina, so it's no surprise that he would go to another institution.
