I wouldn't say UNC "hates" this person, just that they "hate" that she is trying to make them look bad, and doing a fairly decent job at it at this point.

If this happened at State OR Duke, the troll threads would be pumped out every hour, on the hour. One for each new media link , and two for each of Sassie's "persona's".

The topic is inevitable. At least there has been some serious discussion of the actual matter... and not 185 of the brain-dead "BBBWWWWAAAAAHAAAAAA!!!!" Sassie posts out of (the current) 196.

This whole topic is about as ASININE as lumping all d00k fans into people who promote football players firing off assault rifles on campus, underage drinkers passing out in port a johns at a "tailgate", or bball players buying jewelry with mysteriously found $$$$.

ALL campuses have social problems going on, just seems the d00kies and state college folks like to point out the ones that occur at the FLAGSHIP more often than addressing their own. Tis to be expected.

Generalizations about crimes as a group have nothing to do with this particular case, though you and your cohorts keep wanting to go down that road without one single solitary shred of evidence.

How in this Universe can a University hate. It's an institution, not a person. Really, you have lost your mind.

Who? Do you think you are getting the whole story? What in Hades is the honor court doing by being involved in a felony criminal case? Quite a bit of the story is really wierd, however you have latched onto it like it is absolute truth. Not sure your end game here BP but you used to not be like this. As far as what is happening at UNC, this is someones account and I want to see the facts before passing judgement. I will say if she did not get rid of the boyfriend and has all those personal issues, how in the world can she be beliveable. I am knowledgeable of a similar case where a person who was mentally ill made some preposterous, unsubstantiated, defamatory comments and accusations. It really does happen both ways BP.

I was not suggesting that UNC had used a bully pulpit, but rather that she was not free to do so.

You are absolutely.right that the alleged has rights too. If the situation were reversed, and the alleged were found guilty at the first trial, and then the underlying rules for holding that kind of trial were changed in such a way as to call into question the fairness of approach of that court in the first instance, I would argue equally for his right to speak out about it, proclaim his innocence, and label his accuser a liar.

  • FourAutumn Feb 26, 2013

There has been no evidence one way or another. She has not mentioned talking to the police, only to the University.

She used the system that was in place at the time.

How is UNC using the Bully Pulpit? I have not seen any statements from UNC talking about her case. The only one talking in public about it is her.

Is it just to tell the person that she is accusing to just shut up and let her talk? Does the accused have rights? There are two students involved here, not just one. The Honor Court serves BOTH.

  • barthc98 Feb 26, 2013

    View quoted thread

Is there evidence that she was not willing to talk to the police? I must have missed that.

Her day in court? Subsequent actions by UNC call the legitimacy of that court into question... After all, why change if there was no problem with the system?

Bully pulpit? The one UNC is now attempting to use against her? Obviously not something she "has".

She may be lying. I do not know, and you do not know. But if she is telling the truth... is it just to tell her to shut up or else?

Exactly. And that is what she should do now. If she is truly concerned about possible future victims, instead of meeting with the media, she should meet with the Police. Get him off the street, if he is indeed a rapist.

She should have reported it to the Chapel Hill police or the appropriate city/county police force. A rape is a serious crime and should be dealt with by the authorities.
