Another Sunday gone, another underwhelming performance by Julius Peppers. JPep notched just 1 tackle this weekend in his loss to the Lions. For all of Pep's playing time (57 snaps), only recording 1 tackle is certainly not encouraging.

Straight jacket? Coming from the guy who claims he's on tv, I find your statement to be very comical.

Back on topic. Pepp is too lazy to get inducted. Literally. He wouldn't show up to the ceremony.

So the Bears paid $2.25+ million and got this in return...

Julius Peppers is playing through an injury and isn't telling people or he's through playing and isn't telling people. - Chicago Tribune

Where is all this stuff about Duke football coming from? If that's really how you want to judge a UNC football players success have at it, but do it in another thread and try and keep this one on topic.

Speaking of which - I absolutely have facts to back up that Peppers has been one of the most underwhelming players in the NFL this year. Look back at my posts and notice that until his most recent game, not a shred of evidence was supplied to fault my argument. Why? Because there isn't any.

Here you have Julius, one of the highest paid players in the NFL and the highest paid on his team, who didn't even manage to record a single statistic for nearly half of his games this year. Not an assisted tackle, a QB hurry, NOTHING. And I'm not the only one who has taken notice...

Julius Peppers, who will turn 34 at this season's end, has struggled mightily through the team's first six games - registering a combined eight tackles and one sack. He hasn't appeared on the stat sheet for two straight games.Where is Julius Peppers? The 33-year-old defensive end is off to a quiet start. With Chicago's defensive line banged-up, the Bears need more from him.@Redskins - #Redskins RB @Trey_Deuces rumbles 21 yards for the first down! He pushes DE Julius Peppers backward for the final 5 yards. #HTTR

@AdamHoge - Alfred Morris just straight bulldozing Julius Peppers down the field.

ESPN makes a great point, Peppers simply isn't producing. They need more impact players on the DL....

"But with limited salary-cap space, general manager Phil Emery isn't in a position where he can do much tinkering with the roster."

And who's taking up the most salary cap space? None other than the underperforming Julius Peppers...

  • kato_karma2.6 Nov 7, 2013

the OP is dr. fake punt...nuff said.

  • THE AMERICAN DREAM Nov 7, 2013

i bet if you took ALL of the defensive players to EVER play at dook and the NFL (what there has got to be two or three in the last 100 years; right?) and added ALL of their sack totals up; they wouldn't even be close to peppers by himself...
This is the worst fail I have ever witnessed in this forum...
Dumb topic with NO facts to back up the topic... The facts support quite the opposite sentiment...

Or you could stick to the topic at hand and let us know your thoughts on his performance this season. If you've found him to be barely noticeable, don't worry, you're not alone. Hopefully Trestman really got to him in the bye week and will turn the second half of his season around (and boy does he need it).

or you could just come down off your high horse and admit that he is the best defensive player from this area since another UNC player: Lawrence Taylor
    here is how:
178 games 528 combined tackles, 426 solo, 102 assist tackles, 113.5 sacks, 58 passes defensed (wow a D Lineman that covers??!!?), 9 INTs (two returned for TDs {including a 97 yard TD return while in his second season in Carolina)) for 192 total return yards....
he is #18 on the all time sacks list already...
If you guys think he is not a great football player then your IQs must be lower than Peppers career interception total...

Here's what Trent Williams had to say about the most underwhelming player in the league Sunday.

"Trent Williams is a shoe-in for the pro bowl. Was Julius Peppers on the field Sunday? I asked that to the left tackle as we walked out of the stadium Sunday and he said "Not really," with a smile."
