The NCAA will change that record when they start vacating UNC*'s wins. Enjoy those banners while you have them. At the end of this investigation, UNC*'s most recent NCAA basketball championship will have been in 1982.

ok, that's fine. you have an opinion and i just don't agree with it. might be because i have an undergraduate degree in engineering and went on to get an advanced degree...oh and everyone i kept in contact with from engineering school after undergrad also have graduate degrees ... i don't know...

I don't believe I said it was a fact, I said it would not be surprising. It has nothing to do with the caliber of the schools or the students, it was a statement about the type of degrees that the schools offer.

I don't know if the schools put out those type of numbers, but if I can find a link, I will be glad to share it.

I'm just waiting for your links proving that more UNC undergrads go on and get advanced degrees than NC State undergrads and that any net difference is because engineering students don't get advanced degrees as much as liberal arts students...

  • HeelFanF0rLife Jul 24, 2014

I have no idea what the name you are using refers to, but I'm not arguing at all. I'm making a pretty simple point to a pretty simple person and they are not getting it.

  • HeelFanF0rLife Jul 24, 2014

Again, I have no idea what your post is trying to prove. I have never said that NCSU does not offer liberal arts degrees. It is, however, not what they are recognized for.

It really is simple for most people to understand.

Your question was how many majors in the program go on for advanced degrees. I imagine it is the same number that do so from Duke's AAAS program.

  • HeelFanF0rLife Jul 24, 2014
    Towel Boy

Saying NC State is not primarily known for it's Liberal Arts program is a sweeping generalization?

    From the NCSU Website.

North Carolina State University is a comprehensive university known for its leadership in education and research, and globally recognized for its science, technology, engineering and mathematics leadership.

Do you see anything about Liberal Arts in their description of their own reputation?

and there you go with more insults...

  • HeelFanF0rLife Jul 24, 2014

I imagine the same number that go from the African American program at Duke. I don't have a link, however.

I neither said it or implied it. I could have used any liberal arts major. If it makes you happy, change it to English.

btw, how many of those AFAM students go on to get advanced degrees... ya know, because AFAM wasn't just widespread amongst athletes, regular students also took advantage of those fraudulent courses...

I'm sorry. In an earlier post, you were discounting liberal arts degrees, using a name for them. Now you are not. Your spin is quite confusing.

To your point, yes, NCSU has liberal arts programs. And UNC has engineering and computer science programs. But that is not what each school in known for.

I would think you are smart enough to know that.

it's a stereotype and an invalid one at that. Many engineering students go on and get advanced degrees... and then you are also discounting the fact that NC State also offers liberal arts majors and many of those students go on to law and business school as well... Before you post a bogus theory like that, you oughta do a little search and back it up with stats...

    >implying that NC STATE doesn't have a lot of poli sci majors too.

SMH. Keep showing more of that arrogance and ignorance.

  • HeelFanF0rLife Jul 24, 2014
    Towel Boy

I'm sorry, I don't understand your problem with that statement. At all.

All I am saying is it is more likely that a person majoring in Political Science would go to law school than it is a person majoring in engineering. Common sense would tell you that a person with an engineering degree would be more likely to enter the work force directly than a person with a degree in poltical science.

It doesn't preclude a person with an engineering degree from going to graduate school at all.

I have no idea what you find arrogant about that statement. At all.

Yes. I read this money line from your post...

And it would not be surprising for more liberal arts majors to go to graduate school than those from a technical school such as NC State

  • HeelFanF0rLife Jul 24, 2014

No, I didn't say that. I said that the analysis used listed going to graduate school as one of the limitations on the calculation. And it would not be surprising for more liberal arts majors to go to graduate school than those from a technical school such as NC State.
