Football? Right? JK. I would say at this point the Heels are a little ahead overall. Right? It will be tough for the Heels from here out, but we have a tiny bit of momemtum and success. We will see.
State. I think...done. Maybe the State SuperBowl against the Heels will mean something, who knows. Maybe next year. It is funny about State any way anyone slices it...U have to admit.

UNC looked good vs Va Tech. Shown improvement since the bye week. But I'm not predicting anything. Now there's Duke. I think that'll be one heck of a game to watch.
State....... D looked better vs FSU. If they could have pulled one stop, could have been a W. They could make it to a 500 record, but I wouldn't bet on it at this point. I need to see what they do vs Md.
I'd put both teams behind Wake and Duke at this point. I like the program Grobe has built at Wake. Classy, solid, and not a team to be taken lightly by anyone. Duke is by far making the most of what they have and doing the best job of playing to their strengths. Coach Cut should be ACC coach of the year.
But, in reference to the topic, UNC is a bit ahead of State at this point. Both are heading in the right direction.

I totally agree with your assessment of Wake. Grobe is first class all the way and anyone who looks past Wake will lose to them.
Both State and Carolina have a steep hill to climb in order to make it to a bowl this year. The game on 11/28 may just be their bowl game. That should be a heck of a game. I hope both teams are at full strength and may the better team win.

I look forward to the day when UNC/ NCSU has ACC title implications and not whose the spoiler for a bowl game. I think that's where we'll be with that game in 2 seasons.

Right now, I'd have to say Carolina probably has a slight edge over State because their injuries are healing and State's are getting worse.
State sure has been snakebit the last couple of years when it comes to injuries. At some point, I start to wonder if it's just bad luck or if there is some underlying reason so many players get injured. It's possible that poor conditioning, poor technique or both could be contributing to the problem. If it's anything besides bad luck, TOB needs to take a hard look at his coaching staff.
Wake still strikes me as overachieving, which is a tribute to their coaching staff. In the long run, Carolina's and State's natural recruiting advantages should keep them ahead of the Deacs and Blue Devils more often than not.
