In hundreds of emails, letters and phone calls, fans and foes of the University of North Carolina let Chancellor Holden Thorp know what they thought of how he and Athletic Director Dick Baddour handled the violations, both proven and alleged, of NCAA and UNC rules by football players. Nearly a hundred more filled Thorp's email inbox following his decision to fire head football coach Butch Davis – many in support, many in disapproval.
Fourteen players missed at least one game during the 2010 season as a result of allegations of academic improprieties, improper benefits and agent relationships.
