UNC's McAdoo will return next season

Posted April 5, 2012

— University of North Carolina freshman forward James Michael McAdoo announced Thursday he will return to school to play for the Tar Heels next season.

“I’ve had several discussions about my future plans with my family and Coach Williams and have decided to return to UNC to continue playing for the Tar Heels and continue my education,” says McAdoo. “I love being at Carolina and really enjoy competing with and being around my teammates and am excited about what we can do together next season. Every young basketball player wants to have as much information about his future and understand what others in the game think about him. It’s been interesting to learn the information that Coach Williams has gathered, but I am ready to continue as a Tar Heel. I’m enjoying my time in Chapel Hill and am excited about the future for my team and me.”

After the Heels departure from the NCAA tournament, McAdoo's father Ronnie McAdoo said his son would return home to discuss his NBA options but that his son "has every intention of being a Tar Heel next year."

McAdoo averaged 6.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 38 games. The Norfolk, Va., native started three games (twice in the ACC Tournament and once in the NCAA Tournament) and averaged 10.6 points in his last seven contests. He scored a season-high 15 points against Kansas in the Midwest Regional final.

LOL, yeah, that's right wrx44, Roy made the decision. He walked up to Mr. & Mrs. McAdoo and TOLD them straight up, Your son is returning to school and I don't give a dadgum ding bat what you or James Micheal think".

(some of these posters are really stupid, wrx44)

Yet Carolina has more players leave early more often than Duke and State does. What does that mean about K and Lowe?

  • CAROLINA43 Apr 6, 2012

Great news; and I'm sure outstanding research was done by McAdoo and his family, as well as Coach Williams. UNC has a couple of frehmen 'bigs' coming next season, and I hope that can contribute. We're loaded with 2's and 3's. With the freshmen PG, it should be an interesting season.

    GO HEELS!!!!

Lol, hum I do think Sate went to the tourney last in 2006 and had a sweet 16 appearance during a 5 year run in the tournement. 30 years, lol, simple math. Also if you want to call it insecurity I guess that goes for UNC fans being insecure towards State in football. After all it has been longer since UNC has beat State in football and State has won 5 of their last 6 boel games compared to UNC's bowl record, which is what. BTW, State get better results than was expected this year by far and I think most State fans see UNC's winning streak ending in at least one of the games next year, but really don't see UNC's football losing streak against State ending next year.

Sorry to hear that you have never won. Not surprised though.

I agree, Heels, AND TBK's prediction of Carolina being in the - 5th or 6th place in the ACC????? Wishful thinking on the Badger's part. I believe that Carolina, State and (If Plumlee comes back) Duke will be vying for the top three spots in the ACC.

heelsforever, you are arguing with a critter who's only thought and motivation is that if Mac did leave, his poor pitiful wusspack team might have a better change of winning the acc or at least winning a game over UNC.

in other words, His wishful thinking!

HE, himself only, is still hloding out hope for the dimise of anything UNC. The football scandle didn't work out quite like he INTENDED so McAdoo's departure would make his world a much better place for him.

    ignore him.

    Thhhuugggss never win....hehehehehehe.

  • GoLower Apr 6, 2012

He's risking a top-7 NBA draft pick on a team that isn't going to do squat next year. Sounds like you didn't read the article. Straight from the horse's mouth....read it slowly, let it soak in:

What about this is so hard for ABCers to understand?
