Heels ranked No. 3 in Baseball America preseason poll

North Carolina is ranked No. 3 in the Baseball America preseason rankings released on Tuesday.

Clemson is No. 19, Georgia Tech No. 20 and Florida State No. 24.

The Tar Heels, who were 54-14 a year ago, were ranked No. 1 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Ping! Baseball and No. 2 by Collegiate Baseball.

Carolina will open the 2009 season Feb. 20 at the new Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium against VMI.
