The 12th-seeded Clemson Tigers' women's basketball season will be extended for at least one more day after Thursday's 81-69 upset win over number five seed Georgia Tech.
Shaniqua Pauldo was the star for Clemson, scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds in just 26 minutes of play.
Pauldo, one of five Tigers to score in double-figures, finished the afternoon with 11 of Clemson's 31 made field goals for the game.
Georgia Tech was led in scoring by Alex Montgomery, who tallied 17 points, including a 3-6 shooting day from beyond the three-point line.
The Yellow Jackets were undone by a bad shooting day and an inability to carve out any kind of advantage on the boards.
Clemson held the heavily favored Tech squad to a paltry 32.8% shooting for the game, and held a decided edge in rebounds, 50-38.
Clemson will need another extraordinary effort if it is to continue it's Cinderella ride towards an NCAA bid, as the Tigers will take on fourth-seeded North Carolina at 3pm Friday afternoon.
North Carolina received a bye in the first round, and will be playing its first game of the 2009 ACC Women's Tournament at that point.
