Lawson injures big toe in Friday practice
By Jeff Gravley Mar 6, 2009
North Carolina point guard Ty Lawson left practice early on Friday after injuring his left, big toe. He was given a crutch to take the pressure off of the injury and taken for x-rays. The x-rays were negative and showed no break.
UNC sports information director Steve Kirschner confirmed the injury to WRAL and said Lawson "...is expected to practice tomorrow."
Until then, it is not known how much, if any, Lawson will be limited because of the injury.
Last season an ankle injury limited Lawson but even at 80%, he averaged 12.7 points and 5.2 assists. This year, a healthy Ty Lawson's scoring average is up 4 points and he has raced to the forefront for ACC player of the year.

Well, Lawson DIDN'T practice today - not a good sign. We NEED him at 100% to hope for a win tomorrow. I'm stocking up on Maalox now. Maaan. UCONN lost today, not that that is a big deal, but if we beat Dook tomorrow, we'll be in first place in the ACC (most important) and also the ESPN and Coach's Polls. This also would help secure a #1 seed. Let's hope for a miracle tomorrow and Lawson is pain free.
