Sexton to leave UNC for Catawba
Mar 12, 2009
North Carolina quarterback Cam Sexton is transferring to Catawba, UNC confirmed Thursday morning.
Sexton will graduate in May and then have one year of eligibility at Catawba.
Sexton became the starter after T.J. Yates was hurt in 2008, but Yates returned late in the season and Sexton was expected to be on the bench for the Tar Heels in 2009. Carolina also has quarterback Mike Paulus returning.

I wish Cam the very best. I think its a bad move for him. After all where else can you go play for a coach & program the calibur of UNC. Suppose TJ goes down again, we would feel better with Cam coming off the bench than Paulus..If he has visions of playing on the next level ...whose going to go see Catawba play from the NFL.

I wish Cam the very best. Glad that he is leaving UNC. Davis would have been in big trouble had Cam not been there, He won 4 games for them and then didn't get to play after Yates came back. He felt totally used. I hope he will have a super season.

Butch Davis doesn't tell me how to do my job, so I don't tell him how to do his. He made a decision that needed to be made and has probabbly forgotten more about football than i'll ever hope to know.
I think he made the right decision by going with Yates simply because Yates is more reliable. Granted, Sexton had several good games for UNC over the past 3 years, he just wasn't always reliable.

I don't blame him. He should have stayed a starter. I hope Butch will make better decisons next year. He's getting paid well enough too.
