No decision yet on Lawson

The intrigue over the status of UNC' s star point guard Ty Lawson continued Tuesday.

While Lawson says his injured toe feels better, coach Roy Williams cautioned reporters not to read too much into that. At a press conference today, Williams noted that Lawson has rested for nine days, so he should feel better, but that doesn't mean he's ready to play.

Lawson must practice before Williams will give him any playing time in UNC's NCAA first round game against Radford. Lawson was scheduled to take part in some of today's practice in Chapel Hill, but it will probably be Wednesday before a decision is made on his status for Thursday.

"There's no way he'll be 100 percent," Williams said. "He hasn't played in nine days and he hasn't even broken a sweat," the coach added. Williams admitted to being surprised that Lawson has been out this long, adding when the injury first occurred he had no idea it would be this big a deal.

RE: No decision yet on Lawson

I think it will be pretty sad if Lawson doesn't play and UNC gets beat early. He should have sat out the final regular season game. Playing just to have a better shot at beating Duke is not worth missing a chance for a banner. I bet Tyler and the other seniors would agree.

Coach K has always said that he cares about the national championship, not just beating UNC.

Just an observation

Didn't Lawson sit out quite a bit last year for some kind of injury, too? I seem to recall thinking that he could probably play if he wanted to badly enough. I kinda feel the same way now. Sometimes you hear stories about players that play through pain, win the big game, and their story becomes legendary. Lawson's legacy will be one of a player that sits out every time he gets a bruise, if he's not careful.

He needs to be a hero and play. Without Lawson, I really don't think Carolina wins the championship. With Lawson, they have as good a shot as anybody.

No, just a rabid ABC'er.

btw, Carolina will be in trouble as soon as they face a good outside shooting team with a good PG (especially if Lawson stays out a while).

Concerning Danny Green, big stadiums as bb courts are tough on shooters. Depth perception is all funky.

Scheyer, Henderson, Singler, Smith, Paulus and E. Williams didn't have much of a problem.....Scheyer is a "shooter". Oh, and So is Ellington, he made quite a few 3s in the 1st game. I agree it does affect them to an extent...but once they get used to it, it's game on. Green was just off last week...Period.
