Davis rumors nothing new for Baddour

North Carolina athletics director Dick Baddour knew the questions were coming from Adam Gold and Joe Ovies Wednesday morning on 620 The Buzz.
With another round of college football coaching vacancies, Butch Davis would be attached to several rumors. The latest revolves around Notre Dame.
"I guess it's great to have a coach that is rumored with every vacancy that ever occurs anywhere in this country," said Baddour. "Butch is out there recruiting as hard as he can representing the university. He loves this program, his family is committed here."
Seemingly tired of the potential of another post season of speculation, Baddour added, "I think it's unfair to the program and unfair to Butch Davis. I'm not going to get drawn into 'have you been contacted?' That puts you into a position where every time there is a vacancy, you'll get a call and you have to respond."
The importance of keeping the status quo of the current coaching staff is not lost on Baddour. The Tar Heels lost a few assistants to other teams last season, but Baddour viewed those moves as career advancement for the individuals involved.
"You want to be in a position where you're losing them for advancement, and not for a lateral kind of move," he said.

Notice Davis still hasn't beat TOB at NC State.
All of you State fans who talk about the UNC win act like it is the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! How many years is it going to take to rebuild NC State? Your basketball team has been rebuilding for years, and now the football team doesn't look any better. The only thing I see coming out of Raleigh is a bunch of hype (Russell Wilson Heisman chatter) and a mediocre (at best) team that cannot even produce a winning season. How long will Tom O'Brien Torbush stay at State..... as long as he beats UNC?!? LOL
No, calm down. We just like to throw it in YOUR faces. If we thought beating Carolina was as good as a national championship, we'd tell everybody about beating Carolina. Instead, we just tell you Carolina fans because you can't take it!
Tell that to your fellow state fan - andy2. He seems to think it is as good as a championship.

Wow. WRAL really working overtime to try and give Davis some value and credibility after he got his posterior kicked by NCSU last Saturday. Notre Dame & Butch Davis? Not a rumor -- more like a funny joke!

i say any coach who can't be happy here--with the kind of money he's making should go. at what point is it about anything but money? i see him as a gold-digger anyway. we should have let him go before we paid him extra without a proven success. i losT my respect for him last year at the NCSU game when he did what he did to Cam Sexton and now look what we're stuck with--T.J. BIG MISTAKE!
