UNC's Thompson making the most in the post

Deon Thompson was often in the shadows when North Carolina won the 2009 national championship, but all that has changed this season.

Thompson is now a senior leader for the Tar Heels and averaging a team-high 16.9 points per game.

So where are all those points coming from? As Thompson showed WRAL anchor Jeff Gravley, he has learned to go left ... or right ... or fade back and shoot.

It didn’t hurt that Thompson spent three seasons playing with Tyler Hansbrough, either. While Hansbrough manned the post, Deon had to find other ways to contribute to the offense..

And this year, the 6-foot-9, 245-pound Thompson is putting the ball in the rim at a rapid pace. And could the 6-3 Gravley stop him?

Uh, no. 

But so far, no one else has stopped him, either.
