Sturdivant probable for the Heels vs. William & Mary

Posted October 28, 2010

After being withheld from play for several weeks due to a lingering hamstring issue, linebacker Quan Sturdivant is listed as probable for the Tar Heels against William and Mary Saturday.

The other probable for the Heels Saturday is defensive tackle Jordan Nix.

Eight other Tar Heels didn’t make the trip last weekend to South Florida due to injury, this week six players are listed as definitely out. Running back Givonai Bernard (knee), defensive tackle Greg Elleby (knee), wide receiver Brendon Felder (knee), linebacker Tommy Heffernan (knee), linebacker Shane Mularkey (shoulder) and tight end Zack Pianalto who underwent leg surgery Friday.

The Tar Heels faced several injuries during the Miami game. Of those, cornerback Mywan Jackson (thigh) and running back Anthony Elzy (shoulder) are listed as doubtful for the Heels Saturday.

Safety Da'Norris Searcy who suffered a concussion during play in Miami is listed as questionable along with offensive guard Alan Pelc and cornerback Tre Boston.

H-back Ryan Taylor who left the Miami game with an injury and did not return and running back Johnny White who sat out the second half of the game sick, are not listed on the injury report and should play.

Cornerback Kendric Burney will make his season debut Saturday after sitting out due to NCAA suspensions and during uncertain eligibility due to the academic investigation into UNC football.

At this point, I'll take any news that could even be considered remotely good. Go get 'em, Quan. Hope to see you out on that field Saturday.
