— John Inman, who has coached the men's golf team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 13 years, is on the way out. He will stay in place until a successor is named, then he will continue to consult on the renovations being done at facilities on the UNC Finley Golf Course.

Director of Athletics Dick Baddour praised Inman for his commitment to the Tar Heels as a player and a coach.

Inman's team struggled in 2010-11, finishing eighth in the 11-team ACC. UNC golfers won one tournament this season, at UNC-Greensboro in October.

Inman was the first golfer to win Atlantic Coast Conference titles as both player (1982) and head coach (2006). He won the national title and was the National Collegiate Golfer of the Year in 1984.

Thanks. Perhaps he once stood to close and hasn't fully recovered from the concussion yet!

All sports are games some fans just think some are not "sports" because they cannot play the game or don't understand the time and effort it takes to learn to play properly and some sports employee more people and pay them too much money to play a GAME

Golf is not even a sport- it is a GAME. It is not a sport unless you can get a broken nose or something from it.:-)
