O'Brien rolls with early start to ACC season
Sep 7, 2011
N.C. State head coach Tom O'Brien had an interesting comment at his press conference earlier this week, maybe lost in the shuffle in the midst of game ball discussions.
To be honest, who knows if N.C. State even gave out game balls after the Liberty win. Do you give it to Chuck Amato? He did have a nice interview on The Fan last week.
But O'Brien, as nonchalantly as possible while still getting his point across, made it known that he's not too appreciative of starting conference play in Week 2.
"I'd like to be like the Big Ten and play your four out-of-conference games and then go into conference once you play all your non-conference things but this is the way the schedule breaks so we have to go do it, and for the fifth time have to go on the road for an opener," O'Brien said.
He's been known to do this before. You may remember the questions he raised about having to play Cincinnati last year on a Thursday after playing an extremely late road game on Saturday.
Second week of the season is early, but it isn't quite like Maryland and Miami being thrust into conference action in the first game of the season. And this is only the second time in O'Brien's five years in Raleigh that his team has started conference play in the second week.
He may have a legitimate gripe with having to start ACC action on the road five straight years. But of course it all evens out in the end. Everyone gets four home games and four road games in conference. That never changes.
A breakdown of N.C. State's ACC openers in the O'Brien era (all played on the road):
- 2010 - beat Georgia Tech 45-28, 4th game of season
- 2009 - lost to Wake Forest 30-24, 4th game of season
- 2008 - lost to Clemson 27-9, 3rd game of season
- 2007 - lost to 37-17, 2nd game of season

I think "be" is the word you are looking for. I will use in a sentence. The UNC-CHeat football player said "Where be my paper?" Thank you and come again!
Omitting a word isn't quite as bad as constantly "miss" spelling and while trying to blame it on a typo. You might improve if you would just go back and get that GED. Little boy go and take your afternoon nap. Hasn't anyone ever told you that if you can't run with the big dogs to just stay on the porch.
Justify things in how ever you like. I can't type. You can't write full sentences. Draw! I'm older that you with a real degree so go back to the drawing board amateur.

I think the issue here is that when you have a very soft non-conference game like Liberty to open up your season, you are not as confident playing a conference team that is faster, stronger and more capable than the team you just played.- Posted by aschmidt11
Wake Forest could make that same arguement. It appears that Jim Grobe is just going about his business and getting ready for the game.

In 2010 didn't State almost make it to the front porch and then fall down the steps? Three of the past four years, State didn't even make it to the steps.
LOL, if the "steps" are the winning the division.... what in the world would a hole possibly know about them???
TRIP!
Don't be so quick to respond before reading. Reading is fundamental. Comprehending what you read is also a good thing. The porch would be the division championship and the steps are what you use to reach the porch. Maryland slapped you back down the steps.
This is the way SACy "wins" arguments in his mind. He is either intentionally being obtuse or is a complete imbecile. Personally, I suspect the latter, but either way, he's not worth wasting much time on. You'd get more intelligent discourse from my neighbor's dog.
I think you're right!
