Recruit on Duke: "All their big men do is set screens and rebound"

Mitch McGary, considered by recruiting services to be a top forward in the 2012 class, is going to Michigan. He was sought after by Duke, but McGary wasn't feeling the pitch. Why? Well, McGary felt he wasn't going to get his time to shine.

Explaining his decision process in an ESPN blog, McGary said he "loved everything about Duke" during his visit, bonded with the players, developed a great relationship with Mike Krzyzewski. But, and you knew there was a but here, McGary was wary of big men perceptions that go along with Duke.

Despite liking Duke's style of play, McGary said a big con for the Devils "would be the perception that all their big men do is set screens and rebound and that they don’t get a lot of touches." Even though he knew he could change that up, saying Duke had mapped out how they would use him, it still wasn't enough to convince him to ditch the perceptions.

RE: Recruit on Duke:

Should have come to State where he could REALLY shine in our new offense!

You may be correct. However, that's not a proven commodity as of yet. N.C. State has a great class coming next year, and I honestly feel that "Coach Gott" can get it done. By saying "getting it done" does not mean they will "barnstorm" over North Carolina and Duke respectively.

I do believe they will be highly competitive with the Tar Heels, Blue Devils and some others in the ACC. Yes, I'm predicting they will defeat, from time to time, Duke, UNC, Va Tech, et Al. But just remember, my daughter, an NCSU Grad, keeps reminding me of an elusive point. She says, her schools objective is to beat UNC in basketball, and that's the pinnacle of their objective. I don't necessarily agree with her. However, if this is the case, just remember the trophy case is not aided by winning a game or two from your rivals.

The trophy case is enhanced by your total success in the ACC, and the NCAA Tournaments. I sincerely hope they will greatly improve. NC State is one of our great universities and they deserve to excel in all their endeavors.

As for Mitch McGary, he's "right-on" concerning Duke. Coach K...well, they simply do not get much better than him. This guy, I feel, is somewhat narcissistic. Unfortunately, he does not seem to be interested in anything that does not directly benefit him.

Uh....Brand, Boozer, Sheldon Williams, Battier shined.

He must not be that great b/c he pictured himself setting screens.

RE: Recruit on Duke:

Im sure you going to Michigan and scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds a game only to lose will be just fine with you. Good luck with all that "Big" guy....

RE: Recruit on Duke:

It's the Coach K way young man.
My way or the highway!
The less my big men score, the more wins I get!
