Scott Wood has never married, but he thinks he understands one of marriage’s most tormented feelings.

After NC State’s loss to North Carolina, a reporter (not it) asked Wood an innocent question of how frustrating it is to have never beaten the Tar Heels.

Wood, a local media favorite for his honest answers, gave his most vivid response to date. “I don’t know,” he said. “Has your wife ever cheated on you?”

Watch the video above and you can almost hear the audible record scratch as awkwardness filled the entire room.

“That’s probably how frustrating it is,” Wood finished answering after four agonizing seconds of silence.

…and scene.

Ask Phil Ford. I understand a UNC player was "knocking it out" while Ford was an assistant there.

I think the question was, "Has your wife ever cheated on YOU?"

Jeff McInnis says, "Hello, Mrs. Ford. Remember me?"

Was it safe sex?

RE: Scott Wood to reporter:

Wood's comment/question to the reporter was way out of bounds. Is Wood married? Does he know and understand how completely devastating a cheating spouse can be? He is what, 20 years old? His attempt at the analogy fails because he cannot understand the premise unless he has experienced it. Way out of bounds.

RE: Scott Wood to reporter:

Some reporter should have asked Wood if losing to Virginia was worse than being cheated on? That would be ok right?
