Moving on after a fun 4th
Jul 5, 2012
Summer is finally here, the kids are out school and everyone is headed on down to the DBAP to see me - oh yeah, and the Bulls. It’s the best time of the summer.
Fans from all across the Triangle came down to help celebrate Independence Week with me at the DBAP. What is more American than fireworks, baseball, and Wool E. Bull?
The Bulls go back on the road for a three game series before the All-Star Break. While many of our players will get some rest and spend some quality time with their families, our own Dane De La Rosa and Leslie Anderson have been selected to represent the Bulls in the Triple-A All-Star game on July 11, in Buffalo, N.Y. What an honor! These two players totally deserve it. I am still waiting by the phone for a call from the league president to congratulate me on my selection… should be any day now. I don’t know if I want to go anyway, Buffalos and Bulls don’t always get along.
After the All-Star break, the boys of summer play a four-game set against interstate rival, the Charlotte Knights. That should be a great series, and the Bulls could quickly make up sound ground in the division.
Durham comes back to home on July 16 to take on Ryne Sandberg and the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The homestand will be packed with fun including a visit from Spiderman all the way from N.Y.! My Wool E. sense is tingling!
The Bulls will also present the first ever #DBAPTweetup. The event, which will be held on the 19th, welcomes all of our social media friends to the ballpark. I’m excited to meet all these people who I only talk to online. I wonder if they’ll be surprised to learn I’m the one who actually runs @DurhamBulls! Follow us on Twitter @DurhamBulls for more information on the event or to keep up with me and the Bulls.
Well, it’s been fun, but I have to go. The Blue Monster and I have been training a lot lately on our running skills. I think with all this work I might finally be able to win in the base race!
