Tim Buckley should be a good fit at NC State
Jul 31, 2012
The transfer of Penn State safety Tim Buckley to NC State is not as big as it appears. The reason Buckley has gotten as much attention as he has is because he’s the first to leave the Nittany Lion program for greener pastures. The majority of players, for the meantime, seem to be sticking with the program. Head Coach Bill O’Brien is trying to do everything possible to keep his team together. But you can’t blame Buckley for wanting to join the Wolfpack.
Tim Buckley went to Penn State as a walk-on with the hopes of getting a scholarship. Whether or not he can be a player now, a year ago Penn State didn’t feel committed to him enough to give him a scholarship. So now isn’t the time for anyone at Happy Valley to be upset that he isn’t sold out to a program that won’t be able to be in post season play the entire time he’s in school. Maybe the biggest part of this move is that Buckley is going to be able to come home to play ball (graduating from Cardinal Gibbons).
There’s some opportunity for Tim Buckley as well. Red-shirt freshman Hakim Jones is set to back up Earl Wolff at boundary safety. With the number teams on State’s schedule playing with 3 and 4 wide-receivers, there will be plenty of playing time to go around. The guy who may be on the outside looking in is Sophomore Josh Stanley who played extremely well in the spring.

Where did you see that quote anyway?- Posted by TruthBKnown Left The Building
I think you're being too nitpicky over those words. Those are the kinds of things people always say when the truth is they just wanted a change. Or were FORCED into a change. You rarely get the whole truth on things like this.
What's he supposed to say, "I'm glad State will still have me since that child molester nearly got the death penalty for our football team?"
From the statement released by NC State about him returning...here is the entire quote.
âI am excited to be a member of the NC State Wolfpack,â said Buckley. âThe opportunity to come here and play at my state university, so close to home, was something that I couldnât pass up.â
I don't know what he was supposed to say. What he did say, however, just sounded funny since he was offered at State and passed on it before.

Makes one wonder why he passed it up when NCSU first recruited him.
As much as I wish it weren't so, who can blame a kid for wanting to walk-on at Penn State over a scholarship to NC State? (pre-Sandusky, that is).
I don't know. Would be different if we were talking full ride at Elon versus walk on at Penn State. Plenty of kids choose NC State over walking on a Penn State.
In any event, to say playing at NC State was something he couldn't pass up doesn't seem exactly accurate, since he had already passed up on it once.
