There is no science to bracketology
Mar 15, 2009
Watching the ACC tournament this weekend I have come to this realization, no conference deserves more than seven bids. The Big East might have 65 teams, but watching that tourney in between games in the Georgia Dome they aren't that special. The SEC, Big 12 and Pac-10 maybe four. The Big Ten???I have heard they might get 8, are you serious this is a league where teams struggle to score 40 points and their best get destroyed at home by the ACC's top tier.
So when the experts come out with the last four in and first nine out, it really doesn't mean that much because this what happens every year: If the so called expert went to a certain conference school that conference deserves x amount of teams. It is a joke. Let's just wait for the committee to make their selections and not worry about it til after.
But if I have one more conversation about Penn State in over Arizona I think I am going to get sick. We all know a good basketball team when we see it, just because you play in a big conference doesn't mean that conference is good top to bottom, it means that some teams are great and raise your profile, but one win over them does not earn you a birth into the big dance. So before we bow down to the science of bracketology, remember it is more than likely based on where that professor went to school so think about that before a guy says the Big Ten should have 8 teams when most of them have had half's where they only made 8 shots.
