Guess who's coming to dinner?
Mar 23, 2009
So much has been made about the Duke-Carolina rivalry over the years that it seems unlikely we’ll hear anything new.
And then we do.
How about a Duke player having dinner with a Carolina player? At his parents’ house?
Gerald Henderson and Wayne Ellington go way back. They were high school buddies in suburban Philadelphia long before they were ACC rivals. So when Ellington’s parents moved to the Triangle, guess who came to dinner?
“They cook it up,” Henderson says of the Ellingtons’ dinner spread. “Big Wayne, he cooks fried chicken, rice, string beans – everything. It’s good to have a place to get a home-cooked meal away from home.”
Here’s guessing Gerald doesn’t get a place at the table during Duke-Carolina game weeks.
