Tournament organizer to FIU: We expect you there
Aug 26, 2009
Florida International doesn't want to open the season at North Carolina. They'd rather open at Ohio State. It should be a blowout either way.
But FIU feels they were somehow misled. One preliminary schedule had them facing Ohio State, and they're making it clear that's the scenario they prefer.
The whole thing is likely to be a moot point. Contracts tend to be binding for these things, and the group that runs the Coaches vs Cancer tournament doesn't plan to make any concessions.
As Rick Giles of the Gazelle Group tells our Chris Morris from 99.9FM The Fan: " We have a contract in place. We expect Florida International to be there and do the right thing. We regret any miscommunication that may have happened."
Lost in all of the confusion here is the fact that this would the debut for new Golden Panthers head coach Isiah Thomas.
Trouble seems to follow Zeke, from the CBA to the Knicks and now this?
