Ginyard Just Begging For Duke Taunts
Nov 2, 2009
North Carolina's Marcus Ginyard thinks Duke is shady. Not like a tree, and not like a thatched roof at some swanky Caribbean resort. The 5th year senior doesn't like the way the Blue Devils play basketball, and cut to the chase in Athlon's college preview publication. The quotes will be appearing in the Cameron Crazy cheer sheet in a few months.
"A lot of their players walk the line between a good, tough player and like a little shady, dirty…I have a strong dislike for most of the players who play at Duke." Ginyard does have some praise for a few guy in Durham, but it doesn't seem to be many. "There are a few players who play at Duke who I respect as straight-up, tough, talented basketball players."
Ginyard doesn't call out any players by name, but he mentions the act of flopping. Hmm, let's just take a guess as to who he could have been talking about. Greg Paulus, perhaps? Nah, that guy never looked like he was shot by a phantom sniper. Duke's Jon Scheyer certainly doesn't know what Ginyard is talking about. During Operation Basketball in Greensboro, I read Scheyer the quotes. He didn't seem to care, saying "Don't know how we're shady, but that's fine with me."
However, fans care. Thanks to Ginyard, and a rare football game of importance between the rivals this weekend, the chirping between both sides is getting loud early this season.

bluedevil fan 2.0 -UNC nor Ginyard need no more attention -- it's called a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP - not the "Carowhina Way"....

"This is just weird, Marcus. Duke's not shady, they're wussy. They hug, and cry, and flop, and caress eachother's faces, and then they take swipes and throw elbows when their life-and-death approach to basketball doesn't work out the way Lord K brainwashed them into believing that it should. Hmmm, I guess that reaction is pretty shady. But more than anything else, it's sad. Basketball should be fun. Ever seen anyone on the Duke bench smile? It's like a funeral over there. An angry, intense funeral."..haha you're the one that sounds bitter and angry but that's nothing new coming from you. if basketball should be fun then why make up stories about college kids and coaches when you know its not true at all but i guess people like you will never realize how pathetic you really are when it comes to sports.RE: Ginyard Just Begging For Duke Taunts
BlueDevilFan 2.0. What happened to BlueDevilFan 1.0? A ver. change to forget about the bungled cheer sheets, recent mediocrity, and dominance of UNC? Sir, I hope 3.x is in beta testing. As for Ginyard, I f'n LOVE that guy. He's said similiar things over the years in other pubs as well. Hey, it's true and he's just keepin it reeeeeeeal. Or whatever the kids say these days. Regardless, I could care less about this year or the next. UNC will be hanging another Natty within five and dook will be looking for it's first final four in a decade or so.

He will just have to back it up on the court. What he did is in no way weak or in any way detracts from his leadership on this team. Players talk, it is just part of the game. Regardless of what he says, he will be taunted in Hansbrough Indoor. Whatever happens, it is going to be a fun year.GO HEELS!!!

I read the magazine in store the other day and I couldn't believe he said this garbage. A leader would not talk trash about any program no matter what, especially before the season even starts. This is tacky and weak, especially coming from a player who hasn't produced much in the past.- Posted by tlg0022
My point also. True leaders don't do that.
