Oh the things you learn on a Monday. For the record this is not the actual cat depicted in this story. I did a google image search and found this cat, which looks similar to the actual one.

Monday I was covering Tom O'Brien's weekly press conference at the Murphy Center attached to Carter-Finley Stadium. Apparently the Center has adopted a cat. Fittingly they have named it "Murphy". In talking to a reporter and an N.C. State staffer I learned that it's a stray cat that was born nearby and probably got separated from it's mom. When it started hanging around the Murphy Center some of the workers started feeding it. Now it keeps hanging around.

I think the Wolfpack should use the cat like Georgia's Uga. Keep it on the field as an unofficial mascot.

Hey, Tim, next time take a photographer with you so we can see the real "Murphy" and not a look alike from a downloaded internet picture.

^ Don't worry jgunn, I'm sure Murphy will get excellent care at the Vet school.

I hope they keep feeding the cat, and I hope they take it to the Vet school to neuter it or there will be many more kitties, most not lucky enough to find a home or even food. My daughter adopted a cat that was a stray at NC State, and it turned out to be a great pet (despite the fact that my daughter is a UNC grad).
