O'Brien spreads some credit to Roof in Duke turnaround
Nov 4, 2009
Somebody asked Tom O'Brien a Duke question at his weekly press conference on Monday. When asked about "the job David Cutcliffe has done at Duke" he had only good things to say.
O'Brien said about Cutcliffe's time at Mississippi "God only knows why they let him go," he called him a "good football coach" and said he's done "really a fabulous job."
"I think Ted Roof did a pretty good job recruiting some guys too, I mean there are some guys on that football team that if they didn't have they may not be playing the way they are," O'Brien said. "Thad Lewis has learned a lot in four years."
It's always an interesting argument. Give credit to the guy that recruited the talent, or the coach that wins with that talent? I think UNC fans were okay with it when Roy won with "other" players in 2005.

I tried to edit this two times to change a word. Sorry.RE: O'Brien spreads some credit to Roof in Duke turnaround
I think that Roof did a pretty good job there. He didn't get them into the physical shape that Coach Cut has done since he arrived. I think Cocah Cut has strong discipline and it shows every week now. TOB probably has more talent, but Coach Cut has out coached him and a bunch in the ACC this year. I see Coach Cut getting a big SEC school one day. He is only 55 years old.TOB
Huge state fan, but not a fan of TOB from the get go...another example of him talking to much, give credit where credit's due. Cutcliff appears to be doing more with MUCH less than you are.And all that 'best program in the state' talk, it means nothing except that now it's getting thrown back in our faces...
