Dick Sheridan returns to save Wolfpack
Nov 22, 2009
It seemed to work two years ago when NC State took on its rival UNC at home in Raleigh. The Wolfpack won 31-27. Former NC State head coach Dick Sheridan talked to the team and then proceeded to perform the coin toss. The Wolfpack started out strong with a 24-10 first half lead.
Coach Tom O'Brien is going to see if it works again as Coach Sheridan will be doing the same thing in the season finale. Still looked at as one of the most successful coaches in recent NC State history, the fans will be excited to see Dick Sheridan back at Carter-Finley Stadium.
The most ironic part of this story, is that Dick Sheridan wasn't known for his "pre-game" speeches. In fact, the stoic coach always told his players right before they left the locker room, "All right guys, go out there and cut their butts!".
To this day, I have no idea what that means.
