Williams has Presbyterian fan removed from arena Saturday night
Dec 18, 2009
The University of North Carolina won a barn-burner Saturday night 103-64 over the Blue Hose of Presbyterian. That means Bojangles discounts and everyone leaves happy. Well, not quite.
During the second half, Deon Thompson was shooting free throws. The Smith Center was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. That’s when it happened. One of the Blue Hose faithful yelled something to the effect of “You’re gonna miss it, Deon.” Although it didn’t cause Thompson to miss the free throw, it did catch the ire of head coach Roy Williams.
Coach Williams let it be known he wasn’t thrilled with the fan's antics, and after a brief verbal sparring match 50 feet apart, Williams summoned Chapel Hill's finest to make sure the fan found the exit safely.
Some might say Williams was being unfair for throwing out an opposing fan simply for cheering against his team, while others would argue that he was merely sticking up for his players.
Check out the incident and what Roy had to say about it after the game, and make a decision for yourself.
