Williams has Presbyterian fan removed from arena Saturday night
Dec 18, 2009
The University of North Carolina won a barn-burner Saturday night 103-64 over the Blue Hose of Presbyterian. That means Bojangles discounts and everyone leaves happy. Well, not quite.
During the second half, Deon Thompson was shooting free throws. The Smith Center was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. That’s when it happened. One of the Blue Hose faithful yelled something to the effect of “You’re gonna miss it, Deon.” Although it didn’t cause Thompson to miss the free throw, it did catch the ire of head coach Roy Williams.
Coach Williams let it be known he wasn’t thrilled with the fan's antics, and after a brief verbal sparring match 50 feet apart, Williams summoned Chapel Hill's finest to make sure the fan found the exit safely.
Some might say Williams was being unfair for throwing out an opposing fan simply for cheering against his team, while others would argue that he was merely sticking up for his players.
Check out the incident and what Roy had to say about it after the game, and make a decision for yourself.

So all you ABC'ers have lost respect for Roy? Who cares? I doubt Roy will lose sleep over it.
And as for you dookies, forget opposing fans, why don't you all go back and ready what K did to dook fans:

FWIW, the NYTimes article you cited is nearly twenty years old.......
...and Coach K was venting at the Duke students.
So far as I know, Ole Roy is the only coach to use the F-word in a broadcast/taped on-camera interview.
But if it makes you feel any better, then by all means go for it!
So the fact that it was 20 years ago, and dook students, makes what he did ok???

I didn't lose any respect for Roy because I didn't HAVE any respect for Roy.
And it's HOGWASH that Roy only cared about this because of where the fan was seated. They could have had him relocated if that's all that matter. Roy didn't even mention that in the interview I saw. He said he didn't want opposing fans yelling negative things at his players. Those were HIS words.
But you'll believe what you want to believe because it's Roy and Carolina. I, however, will believe their own words.
I think you left out just a few of Roy's words. Why don't you go back and listen again. But then you couldn't post your lies could you?

To the poster(s) that called us "morons" for believing that all the fan did was yell that Deon would miss the shot.... that's all that happened. Roy Williams was interviewed and said he didn't want opposing fans yelling "negative things" at his players. And Deon was asked DIRECTLY if the fan had shouted anything obscene, or did he just yell for him to miss. And Deon said he just yelled for him to miss the free throw.- Posted by TruthBKnown Returns
Roy Williams needs to be slapped and sterilized for this. He is the only moron in all this.
Did someone do that to you? Are you such a jerk because someone slapped and sterilized you? That would explain it I guess.

Deon shouldn't have even been in the game..- Posted by ncguy
Roy should of had his second or third string in at that point.
Go ahead and run up the score and then kick some loud mouth out for saying something.
Get a grip!
How about you get a grip?? You coach your team and let Roy coach his. Do you really think you have the right to say what players should have been in the game??? Lame

Could be that Roy made a mistake? If he did, those who support "Hitler" as their hero and Koach have little to denounce. Nevertheless, here's an edict just for you "burro" faces at Puke.- Posted by dumpondook
What's really surprising is the reaction of the dook (puke) fans. There you sit in Duh-haam, with a Koach Krzysgsbnchey899463hdfgsjky, AKA Hitler, AKA Ole Schickelgruber, AKA Ole "urine and fecal matter, gas face." Lest we disregard, your football Coach "Blade", who's only rejoinder to tackling is turning a knife and "bladeing" the opposition. And, this half-wit ponders why his uh, uh, brood is welcomed to nothing short of "A Toilet Bowl"?
And, if you illiterates want to talk about someone, why not address that "hoof it" who directs the women's basketball...Koach "Peter Faulk", Columbo, McAllie, or whatever in the he** or hades its name is. Your locale of repute is becoming nothing daunted by a justification of stables, housing such Jerseyite rodents as that "Zoopeckerface and Czrz"---those imbecilic simpleton of cretin who mimic the game of basketball.
As usual, I offer my "Middle Finger of Friendship" to all you scatterbrain churls at "Puke."
What out, he has Roy'd Rage.
