Maybe these digs were too nice for UNC
Jan 5, 2010
In reading through the post-game stories of North Carolina's shocking overtime loss to College of Charleston last night I stumbled upon this nugget.
Some schools stay at the Marriot, some go to the Holiday Inn, some even shack up at the Clarion. That wasn't UNC on this trip to Charleston. The Tar Heels stayed at the Charleston Place hotel on this trip. It's not only a five-star hotel and the nicest place to stay in Charleston, but it's probably one of the more luxurious hotels in America.
Since Carolina is on winter break the team came down on Saturday night. An extra night at this place? That seems almost like a vacation. Not so much after the Heels lost. If I'm Roy Williams I'm making my team stay at the Microtel on the next road trip.
Hey, nightly rates at the Charleston Place only range from $235 to $880. Not too bad.

After last night's performance, I'd make them sleep on plywood boards. Maybe it would toughen them up a bit.RE: Maybe these digs were too nice for UNC
UNC can afford this and any thing else they want. They make millions for the school every year. Top teams do this all the time. Why would they stay at the Holiday Inn?RE: Maybe these digs were too nice for UNC
As far as I know, no taxpayer money is used for this. If UNC wants to spend the money and the Rams Club members are happy, who cares?RE: Maybe these digs were too nice for UNC

Makes me feel great. I donate a lot of money so they can stay in nice hotels and have a great place to play. Not like your high school gym.
You donate money? Ha. Ha. Ha.
btw, care to comment on the embarrasing loss last night? I noticed you're in hiding.
