Watch Williams' comments about Haiti

What's worse? North Carolina's sluggish basketball season or what's going on in Haiti? I think we all know the answer to that. In response to Joe Ovies' post just a half hour ago, the blogs and national radio have pinpointed Roy Williams "Haiti" comments from his Tuesday press conference in preparation for the Duke game.
Williams said his massage therapist told him that what happened in Haiti is a "catastrophe" and what he's having with his basketball season is a "disappointment".
"I told her that depended on what chair she was sitting in, because it does feel like a catastrophe to me because it is my life."
Sit back and watch the video for yourself. It hits you about 24 seconds in. Is it a big deal? We already know it's not smart to compare what you do in sports to going to war or being a soldier. Kellen Winslow taught us that so well. But you should probably also leave out events in which 200,000 people died when comparing things to sports.
Roy Williams didn't say that he "didn't" think the Haiti earthquake was a catastrophe. He just felt like using a stronger word than "disappointment" to describe his basketball season this year. Let's be serious folks, I'm sure (or we hope) he is concerned about what happened to the people down there just like all the rest of right-minded humans. But at the same time you have to wonder why he even says things like this to open himself up for the criticism.
You probably shouldn't talk about a 13-10 basketball season and an event that killed a lot of people in the same sentence. It can be taken the wrong way even though nothing may have been meant by it.

Why is no one going over this "bubbly Slovenian"? Clearly he is the Hitler of the slopes in Vancouver. He and Roy need to get together at the White House and have a beer... they are obviously in a fierce race for the world's most inconsiderate person of 2010.
On a more serious note, MSNBC is reporting that the Georgian luger died in that horrific practice-run accident. Only 21 years old....

Yea you looking at where my location is and throwing out the confederate flag junk just shows how ignorant you are. You had nothin to come back with except the 'ol confederate flag line.
Roy used a poor choice of words and your insistence on defending him gives me a clearer understanding of the person you are. Dean Smith would have NEVER said such a thing. You can't compare a potential losing season to what happened in Haiti. He did and you keep defending him.

I heard sometimes Carolina tickets become available a day or two before a game, when some ticketholders donate their tickets back to the University. I heard there were actually tickets available (I mean, from the school, not on eBay) for the DUKE game. I was thinking about seeing if any were available for the State game. But Carolina fans know they're going to win that one, so they'll probably pack the house and not give their tickets back for this one.
